From our sister rescue in Louisiana, if you are able, please sponsor one of the sweet pups on their journey north. The need right now is so great, without funds they cannot continue to save these deserving animals.

AARF has paid $1,000 towards their Parvo fight.

Thank you ❤️

Do you remember this sweet little family that sat in the shelter for a month, no one wanted to take a chance on them except us! We were finally able to pull them and then 3 days later the puppies came down with Parvo💔 We ended up loosing one of them even though he fought valiantly! The rest pulled through and look at them now! Friday they will be leaving to go to Fetch Wisconsin Rescue💚 Momma dog (Chiclet) isn’t ready to go just yet as she still needs lots of work being socialized and learning how to be a member of a family. We have big hopes for her as she has come a long way already!

‼️We are needing funds to help these sweet puppies and another foster make their way up north. Could you sponsor a puppy or sweet Bellah for 30$? Our PayPal is:

Today we were able to help Dakota who was suffering from hot spots, flea allergies and a nasty infection on her bum. Her new dad took her when her homeless owner could no longer care for her and just needed a little help to get her healthy. Once her infection. is under control we will get her spayed.

Feel better soon sweet girl!

Our sister rescue in Louisiana is battling Parvo with a litter they saved from the shelter. Sadly, they lost one last week and now two more are sick.

Parvo is expensive to treat and this small rescue can’t afford these costs but it’s the puppies only hope.

AARF has put $500 towards thier bill but they need more - please see below on how you can help these sweet puppies, they deserve a chance ❤️

Louisiana Lifeline:

Wish so very hard that I had good news to share this morning but sadly I don’t😢
Two more puppies from the original litter of 5 have come down with Parvo and are now admitted at Entrance Road Veterinary Clinic for fluids and meds. Big Red is the sickest. They didn’t start showing symptoms till Saturday when the vets offices were closed💔 I worked all weekend trying to keep them hydrated and treated, brought them in first thing this morning. Big Red is the sweetest little boy and it breaks my heart to see him so very sick, his pleading eyes asking for help breaks my heart over and over again! Please pray that they can kick Parvo’s butt and bring their love and joy to another family in the future!
Our vet bills are getting out of control and we would greatly appreciate any and all help we can get!
Can call in a donation to Entrance Road vet at: (337) 537-2454, Lousiana Lifeline for k9’s account.

Meet Franklin

This sweet older gentlemen sat in a kennel for 7 months in a rural Louisiana shelter hoping someone would come for him, no one did.

Yesterday he was scheduled to be euthanized as the shelter had to make room for incoming dogs. Fortunately a foster stepped up and our sister rescue was able to pull him along with 2 other dogs that were on the euth list.

Franklin is showing signs of advanced heartworm disease; labored breathing. cough and most likely fluid in his belly.

AARF is sponsoring his medical costs as they will be extensive with the diagnostics and treatment needed to save his life.

He is a sweet and happy boy and deserves a second chance to have a great life ❤️

** Franklin has a vet appointment Monday for a comprehensive checkout to come up with a plan for treatment

Goose is looking for his forever home, could that be you?

Goose is an absolute sweetheart who we adopted three years ago through AARF. Around the time he was a year old it became clear that our household environment and neighborhood was a bit too stressful for him - a lot of constant noise from a park nearby and a lot of dogs on our block made for sort of non-stop noise. We also have a very small backyard and he absolutely loves just lounging around outdoors which he couldn’t quite do as much as he wanted to! He has been fostering outside of Seattle for about a year in Renton - in a much quieter environment with a larger backyard and a very adorable Chihuahua whom he loves. He has really thrived out there! His foster parent can no longer foster him, and despite other efforts, we haven’t found another adopter that might be a good fit. If you or someone you know might be interested, we would love to talk more! Please check out his profile on Home to Home to read more about him and see how happy and fun-loving this little guy is.

This week we paid the medical expenses for 4 adults and 11 puppies from an overflowing rural Louisiana shelter so that they can have a chance to find forever homes up north.

We are so grateful for our sister rescue Louisiana Lifelines who is on the front line saving these forgotten and unwanted babies.

This happy and goofy girl lives in homelessness with her wheelchair bound dad. For the past couple years AARF has made sure she has healthy food, winter coats, a sturdy harness and leash and will take care of any medical need that arises. We love you Lucky!

Our rescue friends help so many community cats in thier area. They spend countless hours and thier own money to do TNR and to feed the colonies. They give them medical care and socialize the kittens. If they are not adoptable they release back to the colony and continue to feed and give medical care when needed. This is in rural Louisiana where there is little support for kitties, in fact most of the shelters don’t accept cats.

This week we donated more funds to help these community cats with medical services and food.

AARF has been helping fund thier efforts for the last several years and will continue to do so. Thankful for our supporters and for the hard work of these ladies who work tirelessly to help these kitties ❤️

Meet Sandy and Myra - these two girls found themselves in an overcrowded rural shelter in Louisiana. This shelter and others in the area are at a “Mayday” status, they are over capacity and need to make room for dogs being evacuated from nearby fires. Since these two are heartworm positive they were at the top of the list to be euthanized as HW is costly to treat so most rescues can’t pull them. AARF has stepped up to sponsor these girls to get the treatment that they need and give them the lives they so deserve. Thanks to our sister rescue Louisiana Lifelines for fostering them ❤️

Jinx update….

Jinx has been having a very rough time. First she was too anemic to have the surgery to remove her ruptured eye. So we did our best to feed and strengthen her for 2 weeks. She just was not improving. So the decision was made to go ahead and remove the eye even though the surgery would be risky. Jinx survived the surgery 🎉. But even after 10 days after the eye was removed she still was not eating well and continued to do poorly. The veterinarian ran out of options so we reached out to other veterinarians. Decided to a detailed blood panel on Jinx and finally got an answer. Jinx was diagnosed with a tick borne infection called Ehrlichia. Now we have Jinx on a month long treatment that will hopefully put her on the road to recovery ❤️❤️

Once Jinx recovers from the Ehrlichia, she will still need to have several injuries and issues looked into. Poor Jinx still has a very long road to recovery and more surgery/medical expenses.

To date her medical costs are $2,353; and with more x-rays and multiple surgeries the cost will climb even higher.

Please donate to her medical care if you are able so that we can continue to help Jinx and others like her.

Hang in thier Jinx, we will not give up on you - keep fighting ❤️❤️

07/15/2023

Meet Jinx
She was found hiding in a watermelon field scared, injured and very skinny. It took several days to earn her trust just to be touched.

This poor little girl has so many injuries; the vet believes she was hit by a car several months ago. She had recently given birth (they believe she was pregnant when she was hit) but her puppies were found deceased.

She has a damaged eye that is swollen and glossed over, It will need to be removed.

Left front leg around the elbow is either callused from an old fracture or possible bone infection.

BB pellet in her foot.

A mass that appears to be a mammary tumor.

We have scheduled surgery to remove the eye, tumor, BB pellet and to determine if her leg can be saved.

She is still very skiddish and fearful. It will take a lot of patience and time for her to trust again and to heal but thankfully she is in the very capable hands of Kaye Christopher-Jackson who has fostered so many AARF dogs.

Jinx’s medical expenses will be costly so we are reaching out to our AARF family for help. Please donate to her medical care if you are able so that we can continue to help Jinx and others like her.

Hang in thier Jinx, your life is about to get so much better ❤️❤️

** Looking for a home - located in Western Washington **

Oliver is a 10 year old, 60 lb black lab who is as sweet as they come. He was previously rehomed by a family who decided they no longer had time for him. He was adopted by a loving family but unfortunately their dog was not friendly to him and attacked him. He is currently being boarded in a safe environment and is ready to find a forever family to live out his days with. Oliver is dog, cat, chicken, and child friendly. He loves every person he comes in contact with and is a huge people dog. He strives to make you happy and just wants to hang out next to your side. He still has plenty of years of the good life left on him and enjoys going on trail walks up to 2 miles, sunbathing in the back yard, or just snoozing on the couch getting headrubs. He is very low maintenance and would make the perfect companion to anyone whether it be a family, or someone who would take him to work everyday and he sleep the day away under the desk. Oliver does have very mild seizures approx twice a year but does not need any medication for them. He also has seasonal allergies which is controlled by a annual cytopoint injection. Besides these minor issues, he is a very mellow and companionable dog who is ready for a home that loves him as much as he loves everyone else.

Oliver is neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and his Trupanion pet insurance can be transferred to his new owner.

Our friends Deborah Buckley and Beverly Hanson help so many community cats in thier area. They spend many hours and thier own money to do TNR and to feed the colonies. They socialize and vet the kittens and either adopt them out locally or send them to rescues in other states. This is in rural Louisiana where there is little support for kitties.

AARF has been helping fund thier efforts for the last several years and will continue to do so. Thankful for our supporters and for the hard work of these two ladies who work tirelessly to help these kitties ❤️

Update on Rocky, She had an ultrasound today to determine if the 7” diameter mass in her abdomen was operable. Unfortunately it’s attached to the part of the liver where it cannot be removed. We sent her home to be loved on by her mom and will cover her good bye when the time is right.

Our hearts are broken today 💔

Sequoia and her 12 babies were brought to the pound before the babies eyes were even opened. This family spent five weeks in a rural shelter in Louisiana with no one stepping up to rescue them.

Our sister Rescue in Louisiana wanted to pull them but costs for vetting alone will be upwards of $3,000 not including food and medical supplies and they didn’t have the funds to cover it.

AARF has stepped up to pay thier vetting expenses and could use some help from our supporters to do this.

Sequoia and her 11 remaining pups are now out of the pound and safe with their foster. As you can see from the photo, Sequoia gave all she had to keep her babies alive, even to the detriment of her own body.

A big THANK YOU to our sister rescue Louisiana Lifelines and to Mercedes Stevens Higgins for taking this entire family in to foster.

Thank you AARF family for helping us save them, any amount will help ❤️

Meet Lola, this little Sweet Pea has battled skin and digestive issues most of her life and last year was diagnosed with kidney failure but her mom was unable to afford the additional testing needed. This senior pittie is so sweet and full of life and very much loved by her mom ❤️

We have provided healthy food and yesterday we covered Lola’s vet visit to do extensive testing and get her back on track with her anti-itch injections. In the next few days we should know our path forward to help Lola live her best life. Hang in there Lola!
