ALL OUR LOVE AND APPRECIATION
It is with the greatest sadness and with knowledge in our hearts that we tried everything in our power to keep the financial burden from affecting our clients, that we must close our doors to Burleson Small Animal Clinic . Being a small business, but especially being a private business in the veterinary field that isn't a corporate run entity, is extremely difficult. We ran numbers in every direction, trying to avoid this but, nevertheless, eventually having to give in to our ever rising overhead costs.
Giving to our community never stopped even in our last day here. Seeing clients who became family and patients that we loved like our own was the greatest gift we've ever been given. We have been here the day that you brought your puppy or kitten for their first exam and we have been here as you said goodbye, and we are very honored that you chose us for both of those occasions.
With all of this being said, we hope to make this a little less painful as in the near future we hope to be a part of your pet's life during our adventure into the mobile veterinary industry.

Should you choose another medical route, we totally understand, and we will ensure you receive all your pet's records to include diagnostics and xrays.
Our family of employees is still making the dedicated decision to walk each and every client and patient through this time, answering every question regarding your future and ours and putting your mind and heart at ease.
*******************************
Please allow our doctor
and staff the time to grieve this loss while transitioning to the new journey as we are not done in the veterinary industry.
We will be ready on
Monday, October 23, 2023
at 9am to begin reaching out to current clients and receiving calls to answer any questions.
Please call us at
817-295-7111 or 817-614-9505
and leave a message/ voicemail and your call will be returned just as soon as possible.

2018 Memories- " We rise by lifting others."
Our staff was notified that there were a few homeless people in Fort Worth who had doggies that were in need of basic medical care. Today we were allowed the opportunity to help animals and their owners who love them.
Dr. Winquest, myself(Melissa), and Tito(kennel tech), took off to the streets of Lancaster in Fort Worth ready to vaccinate and give an exam to a hand full of dogs free of charge.
These awesome owners new everything about their furbabies and even feed them before feeding themselves. Polly, Snow, Mocha, and Harlequin, all recieved DHPP, rabies vaccine, deworming, and a head to tail exam by Dr. Winquest.
Today we made new friends and bridged a gap to those less fortunate. Later today, I couldn't help but think about the people and their dogs as it poured down rain. We are so blessed to have a roof over our heads, jobs, and family/friends. All it takes is a moment to help someone in need.

THROWBACK PHOTO- We have been seeing Mr. Burbon and his family since his adoption in 2019! They were driving all the way from Saginaw to see Dr. Winquest and we appreciate that so much! This is definitely Burbon's forever family, and they take such wonderful care of him.

Do not give hydrogen peroxide to cats!
The internet can be full of misinformation, and whether or not hydrogen peroxide can be given to cats is unfortunately, a topic that can lead to deadly consequences. There is no safe or effective way to make our feline friends vomit at home, that includes using hydrogen peroxide. In fact, using something like hydrogen peroxide can cause significant injury to a cat’s gastrointestinal system, potentially causing more damage than the original issue. Cats are extremely sensitive to the gastric irritant effects of hydrogen peroxide and giving any amount by mouth can have severe negative effects that can lead to death. If your pet ingested something you are concerned may be toxic, call your veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline right away before attempting to perform any treatments at home.

We all know that Fireworks will occur in city limits whether the law allows or not.... sooooo.....
Feed EARLY in the evening and exercise their mind and body early in the day. Put your pet's ID tags on their neck securely with a well fitting collar! Radio, TV, fans, A/C systems help to drown out sound. Use Kong food filled toys to occupy their minds while crated. Pets do not understand fireworks and don't belong at the fireworks show. It feels like their world is coming to an end with the loud booms and sounds.

Diarrhea is not normal. Many times animals who have diarrhea have very painful stomach and bowel issues. These can span anywhere from parasites to bacteria to a virus to dietary indiscretion. They don't always mean you have to see a veterinarian but you should give us a call so that we can talk and help you make the best decision for your pet.

🚨Puppy Pads and clean towels request!🚨
What makes our awesome Veterinary Clinic stand out from others is that we foster and pull medical needs animals from shelters in our metroplex. Right now we have 11 puppies that are running through puppy pads like crazy! *Any chance you have any puppy pads laying around your home that you could donate? How about some old towels or bedding that are clean?* We would really put these to good use. Here's a photo of our pack!

Thank you!!

The month of April holds National Bite Prevention Month and many warnings that should be held as very important. Guidance over children and showing them by example to respect animals of all sizes, is paramount to their safety.

With tons of community members adopting new puppies and new dogs, these are some tips and conversations that we've had this month with clients.
1. Your new puppy no matter what size, should never force play on your existing dogs. No barking in their face, jumping on their bodies, that is completely disrespectful for you to allow that and for the puppy to do that to the veteran dog.
2. The new dog should never be treated better or with more attention than the existing dog. The existing dog is royalty and the new dog is the peasant. Treating them as such will show value and respect towards the existing dog and the new dog should follow those rules easily when shown.
3. Small dogs Rule and big dogs should give small dogs a wide berth. Big dogs can do more damage than the small ones and one misstep can severely injure a small dog.
Our hope for you is to create a balanced pack that lives a lifetime of love and good Mental Health.
