Let Me Be is home from the vet clinic and doing well. I dont know how anyone could throw this sweet girl away.
Her injuries from the kill pen were most likely caused from a stallion, not a trailer accident like they claimed, but she is on the mend. She is still very sore in her pelvis and her back legs still stock up when she is in the stall, but as you can see in the video she can get up and down.
Let Me Be is available for adoption, but we do require she stays here at Remember Me until the end of February for therapy and weight gain.
If you are interested in giving this sweet mare the home she deserves, don't wait, please reach out to us. If you're not able to adopt, you can help her find the perfect home by sharing her story with your friends and horse groups. Ask them to follow our page for more of her updates.
(My aussie, Sausage, was worried about her being on the ground, 😆 Ignore the dog noises)

Guess who is coming home today?!?!

Let Me Be has been release from intensive vet care and will finish her rehabilitation here at Remember Me.
We will be looking for a few volunteers who can dedicate an hour a day, a couple of days a week, to help with her rehab. Message the page if you are local and have horse experience.
We want to sincerely thank everyone who prayed, donated, and sent well wishes to her and Last Of The Past, who remains at the clinic receiving the life saving care that he still requires.

Let the healing begin.
Last Of The Past’s eye injury will slowly granulate in. He is not ready to come home yet and is not totally out of the woods.
His legs are going to get really nasty before they get better. They are sloughing off skin. However, Dr Trish is cautiously optimistic about his recovery due to his lack of lameness and positive response to treatment.
If you would like to donate towards his vet bill you can pay Dr Trish directly with her Venmo -Tersteeg or call her with a cc, 817-301-5090. You can also donate on this post or through our website, www.retiredracehorses.org

Update: minimal damage and is in the shop now.

Well, we need some help. When we were taking Three Girls to the vet yesterday, we had a bearing go out on our trailer. I noticed the smoke, pulled over as soon as it was safe, and called AAA. They came and removed the tire and we went on our way to Lone Star Park Equine Hospital. Apparently, Dr. Gilchrist is a master of all things and knew all about our mishap. He said we may need a new axel and that is crazy expensive.
So here is my question. Does anyone know a local to Burleson/Fort Worth area repair shop or mechanic that can fix this trailer without charging an arm and a leg?

Three Girls had a great report and I want to thank all of our super dedicated volunteers that made it possible. You guys rock!

When our vet asked how long since the initial injury happened, (Sept '24), he said she would probably still needed more time, stall rest, therapy and hand waking, but when he ultrasounded her suspensory he was pleasantly surprised that it has healed! He recommended turn out in a very small paddock since she has lost her fitness and would hurt herself if she could blast around on her own, or light, controlled lunging on a line which we will start as soon as this next winter weather passes.

THIS! This is why we go the extra mile. Rehab not only helps horses heal from injuries quickly, but now she will be ready for a new home sooner and in turn, open up a stall for another horse who needs our help months earlier than without the proper rehab.

I want to thank everyone who took time out of their day to help us with her rehab, Thera-plate treatments, and all of the leg rubs. You guy should really pat yourselves on the back!! THANK YOU!

Think positive and good things happen.

Send some positive thoughts for this girl today! Three Girls is going in for a vet checkup, xrays and an ultrasound, to see where we are in her recovery process.
Three Girls was found at the Stroud Kill Pen and we picked her up 11/1. Her suspensory and sesamoid looked awful when she arrived, but we have worked very hard on it. (Xrays from August were provided by her Gulfstream connections and showed a broken sesamoid and suspensory damage.) She has been on total stall rest, with hand walking, and has been going through extensive therapy.
Our goal is to rehab every injury like the horse is going back to race again. We want ultimate healing and minimal limitations. We do not just 'turn them out', we actually do the hard, intensive rehabilitation that a rehab center would charge $50 a day or more for. We are blessed to have wonderful, dedicated volunteers that help with that goal.

We will post an update from the vet clinic.
