🚨 MYTH BUSTER: Rescues Don’t Just Take Small Dogs! 🚨

Meet Cody 💔 — a young puppy with a broken leg. In just 2 days, only $45 has been donated toward his care. Why? Because there’s a sad truth no one wants to talk about…

👉 Small, “apartment-friendly” dogs are in higher demand.
👉 Large dogs, especially pit bull–type breeds, are overlooked.
👉 That means they sit in kennels for months with little to no help.

At OBAR, we only have 3 kennels for small dogs and 3 for large dogs. Every time a big dog stays stuck, hundreds of small dogs die in overcrowded shelters and on the streets with nowhere to go.

We HAVE taken in plenty of pit bulls and large breeds in our 10 months of rescue work 🐾… but moving them is one of the biggest challenges rescues face nationwide.

Instead of blaming rescues or shelter staff working day and night, we need to come together. 🙏

🐾 Cody Update 🐾

Sweet Cody has been resting at the vet and is on pain medicine, but the news is heartbreaking. X-rays show multiple fractures in his back leg, and there are only three possible options:
1. Titanium plate surgery – the best chance to save his leg, but it costs over $1,000.
2. Pins & screws – less expensive at about $600 but risky, and may not hold.
3. Full amputation – the most affordable option, but it means Cody will lose his leg.

We are desperately hoping to save his leg, but we simply can’t do it without your help. Every dollar donated brings us closer to giving Cody a real chance at healing without losing his leg.

Update on Cody 🐾
Cody is at the vet’s office now, about to go in for X-rays. 💔 This poor boy looks absolutely drained and worn out—his little body carrying the weight of too much suffering. Life on the streets has been cruel, and no puppy should ever have to fight just to survive.

The vet will be giving him pain medication to bring him some much-needed relief while we wait for answers. Please keep Cody in your thoughts and prayers as we fight to give him the chance at the safe, happy life he deserves. ❤️

💔 URGENT – THIS PUPPY NEEDS YOUR HELP 💔

This tiny soul was found with a broken leg, starving, and covered in fleas and ticks. He is so weak and in constant pain, crying out because he doesn’t understand why he hurts so badly. 💔 We fear he may also be heartworm positive on top of everything else.

Right now, he’s on his way to the vet to get the emergency care he desperately needs. But we can’t do this alone. Vet bills are already piling up with two other dogs headed in for heartworm testing and possible spays—and now this poor baby desperately needs treatment, x-rays, and pain relief.

💔 Sweet Pea Needs Your Help 💔

Our little fighter, Sweet Pea, isn’t doing well. She’s begun having tremors, is extremely lethargic and disoriented, and is now showing signs of distemper. Without the right treatment, this disease is fatal.

For those who may not know, canine distemper is a highly contagious and deadly virus that attacks the respiratory, gastrointestinal, and nervous systems. The heartbreaking part is that it’s 100% preventable with a simple vaccine. Sadly, Sweet Pea didn’t get that chance.

Right now, Sweet Pea needs urgent care to have any chance of surviving. The treatments, medications, and vet visits are costly, and we cannot do this without support.

💔🐾 Today, OBAR took in a precious little soul who is fighting harder than any puppy should ever have to. This sweet girl came to us in heartbreaking condition:
• Severe URI with painful, crusted eyes
• Ringworm and irritated skin
• Severe dehydration and anemia
• Malnourished and dangerously underweight
• Covered in fleas and ticks
• Likely suffering from worms and at risk of flea/tick-borne diseases

Right now, she’s resting at the vet clinic, where she will spend the night under their care. Tomorrow, she’ll undergo further testing to see exactly what her little body is up against.

💔 The truth is, her recovery will be long, expensive, and absolutely necessary. She deserves this chance.
