With the 4th of July coming up, so many of us are excited to celebrate and watch the fireworks. However, our furry friends may not share this excitement.
Are you prepared with a plan for your pet’s safety?
Here are some tips:

1. Do NOT bring your pet outside off leash, better not to at all, during the fireworks. This can lead to your pet running away due to fear.

2. Set up a safe space for your pet to hide. This could be a crate in a secluded area, maybe leave your bathroom open for them to hide in a tub.

3. If you know your pet is fearful of fireworks, try not to leave them alone. If you can’t be by their side to care for them and comfort them, find a sitter or board them so they aren’t alone.

4. Contact your vet before the weekend and see if you can receive medication to help calm your beloved pet.

5. Update their ID’s and microchips in case they do manage to run away, this way they can be easily identified.

6. Walk them earlier in the day to help prevent accidents.

7. Provide distractions for them, maybe give them a puzzle toy and play some calming music to help block out the noise.
