🐾 Training Tip Tuesday! 🐾

When teaching your dog a new behavior, remember: don’t add the cue too soon! Whether it's a word, hand signal, or scent, the cue should only come after your dog is reliably offering the behavior on their own. 🐶✨

Think of it like teaching a new language. Adding the cue from the start can be confusing—your dog is still figuring out what you want, and throwing in extra information might overwhelm them. They don’t understand words yet; these sounds only make sense once they’re paired with the action!

So, wait until they’re performing the behavior consistently. Then, begin saying the cue as they’re doing it. It can take about 50–100 repetitions for the cue and behavior to fully link, but patience is key!

Meet Archie, our November pup of the month! 🦃🍃🍁

Archie is the sweetest little doodle man there is! 🐩

Some of his favorite things are riding along for school drop-offs and pick-ups, sitting in “his” car seat (when it’s not occupied), playing with his best friend, a German Shepherd who lives next door, and most of all cuddling up with his people whenever he can! His dislikes include when one of his “kids” practices their trombone and blow dryers! 🚗🇩🇪🤗📣
