Our farm tour season of May 1st has been deluged by rain ever since. For those who have already scheduled, please check the weather before you make plans. Ah!! Sheep shearing is over for another year! Thanks for all the help … John and Noah (service hours from CCH), Eli (our grandson who helps us at the farm), Lana (my neighbor and her sheep), Sharon and Chris (my dearest friends who help so much). Whew. It’s time for a hot bath and a lovely beverage!

Join Kentucky Wool Works for Living Your Lambtastic Life – Part 1—a Beginner’s Sheep Class, Sponsored by Paris Stockyards! This FREE event on Sat. Jan. 28th includes lunch.

9:00 – Noon – This beginning short course introduces you to sheep farming and guides participants toward success. Join Kathy Meyer and Shon Wylie of Kentucky Wool Works, www.kentuckywoolworks.com. These two shepherds don’t fool around when it comes to raising sheep for profit, having decades of sheep production experience between them raising market ready lambs and prize-winning wool.

Printed materials are provided and note taking is encouraged as we discuss basic sheep terminology and animal husbandry as well as focusing on your individual shepherding goals.
Noon - lunch provided by Paris Stockyards

1:00 – 4:00 – Class participants will carpool to Final Frontier Farm, located 10 minutes from Paris Stockyards. The learning continues with hands-on lessons with sheep, livestock protection dogs and stock dog demonstrations. Lots of time for questions, answers, and practical learning.

Time to catch up with the farm…..its been a few years since we bred some of the alpacas. We worked on breeding with our sheep instead. This fall we’ve exposed 6 females and are hoping that most of yhem have settled, so we are hoping for crias in September-October, 2022. You will want to see the new babies!

Eagle Bend’s Yarn & Fiber Shop on site is open Tuesdays thru Saturdays and offers classes and fine yarns for sale. Farm is closed to the public but tours can be scheduled by calling 859-750-3560.
