We ended up with a cat last January that suffered an awful death from this.

For Immediate Release:

Castle Pines, CO – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Douglas County Animal Law Enforcement Officers are investigating a recent incident in which a dog ingested rodent poison while walking through the Tapestry Hills neighborhood in Castle Pines. Initial findings suggest that this appears to be accidental and caused by wildlife dispersing the poison that was legally placed in an individual's backyard.

“Animal Law Enforcement Officers are working to determine the exact number of tablets that would have come in the package that the individual purchased to determine if there is still a cause for concern for other neighbors in the area,” said Douglas County Animal Law Enforcement Sgt. Bryanna Munns. “This serves as a good reminder to take extra precautions when using rodent poison. Always consider the potential risks to pets, wildlife, and children in your community.”

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and Animal Law Enforcement urge residents to follow these safety tips when using rodent poison:
• Read and follow all label instructions carefully.
• Place poisons only in areas that are inaccessible to pets and children.
• Securely store unused poison in a safe location.
• Monitor outdoor areas for signs that poisons may have been moved or scattered.

If you suspect your pet has ingested rodent poison, seek immediate veterinary care. Contact Douglas County Animal Law Enforcement at 303-660-7529 for more information.

Sheriff Darren Weekly said, “The safety of our community, including its pets, remains a top priority. We appreciate the cooperation of all residents as we work together to prevent incidents like this from happening again.”

🐾HENRY NEEDS A HOME!🐾
This older guy desperately needs a home so we can get him out of the shelter. Even a foster home would help. He’s an older boy, 9 they say, but acts like a 4 year old. He’s fully vetted, house trained, likes other dogs and kids loves car rides and playing with his toys. Just a great boy to be around. His adoption fee has been sponsored so if you’re the family for Henry, fill out an adoption application epawaburlington.com
Or call/text 719-340-1105 and we can set up a meet and greet.

We’ve had a very big day and a lot of people to thank!!!
Thank you so much to Nikki Hernandez for transporting four cats up to Denver for us! We also would like to thank their fabulous fosters: Carol Plasterer, Shelby Seymour, and Brooke Roder!!! Thank you to Cindy Stewart for running around and helping round them all up for transport!!! Thank you to PawsCo for finding them homes!!!
We are still struggling with our math. Although four moved on to find their forever home, four more came in with medical needs! We never get ahead!
Thank you everyone!
