Find Lumen

Sadly my rescue cat Gibbie died today after a sudden decline. I adopted him while looking for Lumen. I think of Gibbie as Lumen's son - in a sense. I am grateful to have closure with Gibbie, even though he died way too young, but no closure with Lumen, who may still be alive somewhere.

Dear Lumen. i can’t believe it’s been six years since the last time I saw you, That video in the garage of you trying to get back into the house in 2017 still haunts me.

i miss you and i still think about you almost every day. i hope you are healthy, happy and loved.

Thank you to all of you who tried to get us reunited. I was blessed with such kind support.

Today you are 9 years old. It has been 5 years since I've seen you but I'd recognize you instantly if we met.

I have been inspired to post about Lumen again in various places. I made a Seven Days classified ad and have been reaching out to local veterinary hospitals. I joined a couple regional lost and found groups: the Cats of Winooski, Vermont, Bennington, VT Lost And Found Pets, Rutland Vt Missing & Found Pets.

Do you have any other suggestions of groups where I could post his page?

I might be obsessed but I hope I can be an inspiration for others to never stop looking for your lost pet.

I lost my beloved cat Lumen, who was an indoor cat who escaped in the winter of 2017-2018 in Burlington Vermont. I have been searching for him ever since. I hope that he ended up safe and loved. I would not want to take him from a new owner.

All I can do is hope by some miracle this connects to someone who might recognize him. I don't know how far away he could be now, if he moved with someone.

Lumen is an eight year old neutered male brown tabby. He has massive paws and a long tail. His side face markings come together in a curl like a smile. He has dewclaws on his hind legs.

A sighting was called in last night from Colchester Point. I will investigate even if it's unlikely to be Lumen. It's still a sign for me to search.

What happened to Lumen?

I wanted to thank you for the warmth and support I felt from our community after I lost my cat Lumen. I put up my road signs and went door-to-door, and I am happy to report that I met many animal lovers and kind hearts in our neighborhoods.

I have tried to learn what could happen to cats who go missing in our area. I have collected enough stories to fill a book. Cats can disappear without a trace but also new cats can show up, just as mysteriously.

There is a good chance that someone picked Lumen up, since he was a lost indoor cat and he was wandering from house to house. I would be happy if he is safe and loved. I relinquish any claims or ownership (this is a public record of it). I would just like to find closure and peace.

This is a cold case, but if anyone has any clues as to his fate, good or bad, I would be very grateful and offer a reward. If a large shy brown tabby tiger found his way to you in winter 2017 - 2018, it might be Lumen.
