Updates about the rescue Percheron from Bowie and our GoFundMe. 🩷🕊️🥳

He is settling in wonderfully, he had his first dewormer, and we’ve begun working on trimming his hooves.

He is out of quarantine and starting to talk with the main herd over the fence line.

Busy day at the ranch!

We love educating groups about proper horse care and tack. We take our horses comfort and wellbeing very seriously, thus, we have many different saddle pads, saddles, hackmores, and bridles. 🥳

Below you can see 6 types of orthopedic pads we utilize and then we put the classic, western rugs over the top of them. Improper fitting equipment can be detrimental to a horse’s health, so this is very important!

Everyone was a bit grumbly coming in from the 300 acre turn out pasture, but with the ice storm coming today possibly, we wanted to be able to continue to fill up their furnaces!

No ice or rain yet, but we are still planning to blanket everyone who needs it this morning!

We think it is time to formally introduce our newest member of the herd: Calypso, aka Polly. 🎀😇🥰

She is a Belgian draft mare originally rescued from Bowie by our friends in Round Rock!

She has faced tremendous rehab, radiographs, and corrective farrier work before coming to us. She is a sweet girl and we are happy to have her. 🏥

She has started to take a few riders here and there as we continue the corrective farrier work and build her muscles on the beautiful hills and peaks of the ranch. 🌵

She faced tremendous rehab, radiographs, and corrective farrier work before coming to us. She is a sweet girl and we are happy to have her and finish off her rehab. 🏥

Fall riding fun! 🐴

With deep sorrow we report that our beloved Tito passed away on Thanksgiving night.

He was only 18 years old, it was a complete shock to us.

We suspect an aneurysm or heart attack.

Without a necropsy there is no definitive way to know. There were no signs of struggle or strain and we believe he passed peacefully and quickly.

He was a wonderful boy and a core part of our original herd. He was buried with respect and ceremony the following day. 🩷😔

Even with strategic nutrition, vetting, and care, sometimes our treasured pets leave us suddenly. We strive to give our horses the most natural and top-tier life possible. Not knowing what happened to him is a very hard pill to swallow. 😢😞

Today we retired our Martha! 🎉🥳

🩷If you have any memories of her on our rides, please share below!

She will live out her days with our other retired horses at a private barn in Liberty Hill where Travis’s wife keeps her horses and the retirement horses from Thunder Horse.

🌵We rescued Martha from the direct-ship kill pen at Bowie in Texas in 2021. Her hooves hadn’t been touched by a farrier in years, she was emaciated but still put on a show for us as if to say “I still have a lot of life to live! Please don’t leave me here!”

💰The reality is: trail barns and outfitters dump their discarded, old horses at slaughter lots to get one last small pay day off of them. Thunder Horse Outfitters never discards our horses like trash and treasure them until their last days—- even if they can’t generate money anymore.

Thank you, Martha, you have worked hard and deserve your long retirement!🦄🩷

We picked up this Mule in the spring from a known slaughter yard in Texas.

He was fearful of people, was underfed, and definitely needed groceries and love. ❤️

6 months later he looks like a completely different animal!

Juanito is still going to take some time to be integrated into any type of guest activities but we love him and are so happy he is happy!
