Tulip’s Diary – My Big Adventure

Hi everyone! It’s Tulip here, the mixed pitbull pup, checking in! I live with my human, Lee, who works at the clinic, and I have two best friends – Goose and Tarben. They’re both big black labs, and Goose is my special boyfriend (don’t tell Tarben, okay?). We have SO much fun together. We like to play rough – running, tumbling, and getting all the zoomies out. But then, after all the excitement, we curl up for naps on the couch downstairs while the humans are working upstairs. Life is pretty sweet.

But…oh boy, I need to tell you about one of my not-so-smart ideas. One day, while everyone was busy, I noticed something shiny and exciting—Goose’s leather collar! Now, Goose has this collar that’s super shiny and smells like him. It was just sitting there, waiting for me. It looked like it was made for chewing! So... oops, I did. I chewed and chewed until it was all gone. I thought nothing of it, and I didn’t even get caught!

Well, my stomach had a different plan. I passed part of it through my stool, but a couple of weeks later, I started feeling super sick. I was throwing up all over the place and not feeling like myself. Lee and the rest of the clinic team were so worried and rushed me to the vet (which, by the way, is where they all work!). It turns out, that sneaky collar piece was still stuck inside me. Yikes! I needed exploratory surgery to get it out. But, don’t worry, I made it through just fine. The doctors did their magic, and soon enough, I was feeling like my old self again.

Now I’m back to my usual antics with Goose and Tarben. I’m still the protective girl around Goose (I can't help it, I love him!), and we’re back to playing and napping like nothing ever happened. Lee tells me I have to be extra careful next time, but we’ll see how long that lasts. 😉 The humans take off our collars now when we are together – I don’t really understand why but oh well.

Thanks for reading my little diary, and remember—sometimes it’s the simplest things that lead to the greatest adventures (or, in my case, trouble)!

Pepperina and Jack came in for their first visits with us recently and were very co-dependent on one another. We opened up the carrier and this is what we found. When we tried to get a photo of them with the Welcome Board - they weren't interested. Thanks for being good sports, kiddos!

🐾 2nd Puppy Visit with Sig! 🐾

We had the absolute joy of seeing Sig for his 2nd puppy visit. Those big, adorable puppy eyes of his were just impossible to resist! 😍 Sig is growing up so quickly, and he was such a brave boy during his visit. We can already tell he's going to be such a good boy! 🐶💙

We’re looking forward to watching him continue to grow and can’t wait for his next visit!

🐱 Understanding Feline Acne: What Every Cat Owner Should Know 🐾

Did you know your cat could develop acne just like humans? Feline acne is a common skin condition that affects cats, often seen around the chin and lips. But don’t worry—it's treatable with the right care!

🐾 What is Feline Acne?
Feline acne occurs when hair follicles and sebaceous (oil) glands become clogged with excess oil, dirt, and dead skin cells, leading to blackheads, pimples, or even pustules. While it’s most commonly seen on the chin, it can appear anywhere on the face.

🐾 Signs to Look For:
Blackheads (small, dark spots) on the chin
Redness or inflammation
Pimples or pustules
Scabbing or swelling
🐾 What Causes It?
Poor grooming habits (dirty chin)
Plastic food bowls (bacteria buildup)
Stress or changes in environment
Hormonal changes (especially in unspayed cats)
🐾 How is it Treated?
Regular cleaning of the affected area with a mild, cat-safe antiseptic
Switching to ceramic or stainless steel bowls to reduce bacteria
Topical treatments or prescribed medications if needed
In severe cases, a vet might recommend oral antibiotics

🐾 Star Patient of the Month - November 🐾

We are so excited to announce that our Star Patient of the Month for November is none other than the lovable Banjo! 🎉 Banjo is a 2-year-old mixed breed bundle of joy who has been a part of our clinic family since he was just 9 months old. He still looks like a puppy, and we can’t get enough of his sweet, happy personality! 🐶

During his last visit, Banjo was rocking an adorable banana sweater 🍌 – it was absolutely precious! Unfortunately, he was in too much of a hurry to get home to let us snap a pic. But trust us, it was too cute for words!

Thank you, Banjo, for always being such a well-behaved and charming little gentleman. We love seeing you every time you're here. You are truly one of our favorites! ❤️

🐾🐱 Litter of Kittens from Last Hope Rescue 🐱🐾

We had the sweetest bunch of kittens come in today for their intake exams, courtesy of our amazing rescue partner, Last Hope. These little ones were a bit nervous and clung to each other in the corner, but they did great for their exams! 😻💉

One important tip when handling a litter of kittens: watch your feet! 🦶 These little adventurers are quick and tiny, so it’s always a good idea to make sure you don’t step on one while they’re exploring their new surroundings. 🐾

It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole year since Kathy joined our team! From the moment she walked through our doors, she’s been nothing short of a blessing. We honestly don’t know how we survived before she came along!

🌟 Star Patient of the Month – October 2024! 🌟

Meet Star, our Patient of the Month for October! ⭐️

Star came in for her very first visit last month for a routine preventative care exam, and we were instantly smitten. From the moment she walked in, her tail was wagging non-stop—this happy girl is truly a ray of sunshine! 🌞

Despite all the usual vet procedures, like vaccinations and a blood draw, Star wasn’t fazed at all. She just wanted one thing: love! ❤️ Her sweet, gentle nature made her an absolute joy to have in the clinic, and we can't wait to see her again.

Star, you're our star patient and we're so lucky to be part of your journey to a long and healthy life. 🌟🐾

This little Cavapoo has just had his neuter procedure, and now he’s using his big brain to figure out how to make a quick getaway! 🧠💨 He’s standing by the door, ready to head home and start his next big adventure — hopefully with a little less “energy” than before. 😜

Don’t worry, Einstein, your recovery is almost as smooth as your adorable curls! 🐶💙 We’re sure you’ll be back to running the world (or at least your house) in no time!

Dr. Torvik had the pleasure of seeing these adorable Guinea pigs for their routine exams. We did some nail trims, checked their teeth, and conducted thorough exams. They were such good little patients—only letting out a couple of tiny squeaks during their visits! 😄💕

🐾✨ Meet Molly! ✨🐾

In September, Molly had her dental cleaning and only needed two teeth extracted—such a trooper! For two weeks, she had to stick to soft food, but it was worth it because her extraction sites were completely healed at her dental recheck, and guess what? She got some crunchy Royal Canin dental treats! 🦷🥳

Molly was absolutely over the moon about her goody bag filled with dental treats and samples. You should have seen her—she literally couldn’t stop biting the bag to get more! What a goofy girl! 😄💖
