Inspired Spine

Inspired Spine Inspired Spine is a total spine care provider committed to treating back and neck pain using advanced, minimally invasive procedures.

Inspired Spine has worked to develop technologies and procedures that not only address the patient’s original concern of back pain, but also address the possible economic concern of reduced income during a recovery period. Inspired Spine procedures reduce the length of spinal surgical procedures. Traditional spinal surgery addressing one disk can take about 4 hours. You can expect to be in the hos

pital for up to 5 days, and there will be a doctor recommendation for 3 months post-surgical recuperation. In contrast, the same diagnosis of a herniated one level spinal disk with an Inspired Spine procedure will have your surgical time be 45 minutes. You will be home sleeping in your own bed the same day the surgery took place, and you will be asked to engage in “no sweat” activities for 2-3 weeks. No sweat activities is as it means. You can enjoy walks, go out for dinner, and sit at your desk working on the computer. Activities such as running, cutting wood, or snowmobiling would be discouraged. However, sitting in an ice fishing house, walking the dog, or attending business meeting are all completely acceptable. Of course a patient’s health pre-surgery has much to do with determining what activities would be best for them, and they and their doctor will discuss post-surgery activities on a case by case basis.

Dr. Abbasi is performing a Bilateral SI Joint Injection, a crucial step in diagnosing and relieving pain in patients suffering from sacroiliac (SI) joint dysfunction. This minimally invasive procedure involves injecting a combination of local anesthetic and anti-inflammatory medication into both SI joints to reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.

But this injection does more than just provide relief—it helps pinpoint the exact source of pain. If the injection significantly reduces discomfort, it confirms the SI joint as the culprit, allowing Dr. Abbasi to determine the best next steps for long-term pain relief. For some, this procedure is enough to manage symptoms, while others may benefit from our minimally invasive SI joint fusion to restore stability and eliminate pain for good.

Many elderly patients come to Dr. Abbasi after being turned down for traditional spine surgery. They are often told to “live with the pain” and rely on medication for relief. But at Inspired Spine, we believe that age should not be a barrier to a pain-free life.

With our minimally invasive spine surgery (MIS), we can help elderly patients who have been deemed "too old" for traditional surgery. Our techniques use small incisions, minimal blood loss, and significantly shorter surgery times—often around 30 minutes to an hour. This means less stress on the body, a quicker recovery, and reduced risk of complications, making it a safe and effective option for older adults.

Traditional spine surgery, on the other hand, is often too invasive for elderly patients. It typically requires large incisions, long hours in the operating room, and extended hospital stays—all of which increase the risk of complications like infections, blood loss, and slow recovery. Because of this, many elderly patients are told they are not candidates for surgery.

If you or a loved one has been told that surgery is not an option, don’t lose hope. Dr. Abbasi and our team specialize in helping patients of all ages reclaim their lives. Connect with us to learn how we can help you live pain-free again!

Dr. Abbasi utilizes intraoperative imaging during surgery to ensure the highest level of precision and safety for his patients. This advanced imaging technology provides real-time visualization of the spine, allowing him to navigate delicate structures with accuracy and confirm proper placement of implants, screws, and cages.

By using intraoperative imaging, Dr. Abbasi can achieve exact precision, minimizing complications, reducing surgical time, and improving overall patient outcomes. This technology is especially crucial in minimally invasive spine surgery (MISS), where small incisions and limited direct visualization require the utmost accuracy.

With tools like fluoroscopy (C-arm X-ray) and O-arm CT, Dr. Abbasi ensures that every procedure is performed with the highest level of expertise, leading to faster recovery, reduced pain, and better long-term results for his patients.

Dr. Abbasi is performing an Anterior Cervical Discectomy and Fusion (ACDF) surgery, a procedure designed to treat neck pain, radiating arm pain, and other issues caused by damaged discs in the cervical spine.

During ACDF, the damaged disc is removed and replaced with a bone graft or synthetic material to fuse the vertebrae, providing stability and relief from pressure on nerves. This procedure is highly effective for patients suffering from herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, or spinal stenosis.

ACDF helps relieve pain, numbness, and weakness in the neck, shoulders, and arms, offering long-term relief by stabilizing the spine and preventing further nerve compression. The recovery time is generally shorter compared to traditional spine surgery, with most patients able to return to their daily activities within 6-8 weeks, experiencing significant pain relief and improved mobility.

Dr. Abbasi’s OLLIF labs offer a unique opportunity for surgeons and residents to familiarize themselves with Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS) techniques. During these hands-on labs, participants will gain valuable experience with OLLIF, a groundbreaking procedure that minimizes incision size, reduces blood loss, and accelerates recovery time compared to traditional spine surgery. MISS offers patients quicker recovery, less postoperative pain, and a faster return to daily activities—benefits that traditional spine surgery often cannot match.

As the field of spine surgery continues to evolve, MISS is rapidly becoming the standard of care, with more surgeons adopting these advanced techniques. Traditional spine surgeries, which often require lengthy recovery times and larger incisions, are being replaced by more efficient and effective procedures that prioritize patient outcomes. The future of spine surgery is here, and it’s focused on improving patient quality of life with minimally invasive options.

We invite surgeons and residents to join Dr. Abbasi in one of his OLLIF labs to gain firsthand experience with these life-changing procedures. This is an invaluable opportunity to learn, practice, and incorporate MISS techniques into your own practice for better patient care and outcomes.

A herniated disc can cause significant discomfort and impact daily activities, but understanding its nature is key to addressing the pain.

A herniated disc occurs when the outer layer of a spinal disc ruptures, allowing its inner core to push out and potentially compress nearby nerves, leading to symptoms such as back, neck, arm, or leg pain.

This condition can arise from aging, injury, or degenerative disc disease, which affects both the spine and surrounding ligaments over time. While many cases resolve with conservative treatments like physical therapy and medication, more severe cases may require surgery.

Dr. Sunny S. Kim, a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon with 25 years of experience, is performing a spinal cord stimulator (SCS) trial—a groundbreaking treatment for patients struggling with persistent back pain.

💡 What is a Spinal Cord Stimulator Trial?
A spinal cord stimulator is a device that sends mild electrical pulses to the spinal cord, disrupting pain signals before they reach the brain. The trial phase allows patients to experience pain relief before committing to a permanent implant, ensuring it’s the right solution for them. Many patients find significant relief, reducing their dependence on medications and improving their overall quality of life.

We are dedicated to providing cutting-edge, minimally invasive solutions for chronic back pain. If you’ve been suffering from chronic back pain and are looking for minimally invasive treatment options, connect with us to see how we can help!
