These two were found in the 9300 blk of Greentree Drive (Green Knoll subdivision) going on an adventure without their owner. If you know who they belong to please call us at 810-424-2611.

FOSTER NEEDED FOR A POLICE CUSTODY CASE
She has puppy energy love to play with other dogs

You must be a Genesee County resident to foster

A police custody will be a long term commitment
With that being said Genesee County Animal Control will always supply food, medical and we have a small group of foster homes that can give vacation breaks. Animal control will always make room if need be.
Police Custody animals can't be shared publicly, no social media and restricted outside activities

It is sad to watch these dogs linger in a cage for over a year.

🚨 GENERAL REMINDERS FOR THE PUBLIC!

We are reopening on Tuesday, August 6th at noon and can’t wait to get back to our normal routine! We are hoping to have lots of adoptions and reunions as well as continue to help the discarded animals of Genesee County.

With that being said, we have some important reminders that we would like everyone to familiarize themselves with.

STRAY ANIMALS:
For those who have found a stray, PLEASE post the animal to For the Love of Louie and other missing pet sites first to see if there is a potential owner. We ask that all strays stay in the vehicle with the air conditioning on (it’s still toasty out there) so you can come in and do paperwork first. You will need to have your valid ID on you. Depending on how busy we are (as well as cage availability within the shelter), the stray intake process can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, so please make arrangements to accommodate this. We try to make the process as fast and efficient as possible, but please come with time to spare.

OWNER SURRENDERS:
We are not taking owner surrenders at this time as we do not have the resources or space to do so. If you’re looking to rehome your animal, please send us a message on Facebook; we’d be more than happy to provide more information and helpful resources to help you rehome. If the need to rehome is due to an extenuating circumstance, please contact us through messenger.

ADOPTIONS:
Please know that all animal adoptions are based on a first come, first served system. We cannot hold animals to accommodate work schedules, vacations, etc. If you have your eye on a specific animal, the best thing to do is to come right when we open. Please keep in mind some dogs do require a meet with other dogs living in the home. The only time we hold an animal is if it has not yet been spayed/neutered; however, this is ONLY possible if you came up in person and had a successful meet. If the specific animal you came to meet is getting fixed, he/she will NOT be available for a meet and greet until the next day. To avoid frustration and confusion, please send us a message here on Facebook ahead of time so we can let you know if that animal is available for meets or not.

PLEASE READ:
Please know that we are expecting next week to be extremely busy. Not only do we have 250+ animals in our care that we are searching for placement for, but we also do in house spay/neuter, heartworm treatment, pet retention, and so much more. We have medical emergencies popping up left and right, extremely high intake numbers, and the stress of overcapacity. On top of all this, we are currently short staffed. Please give us grace and show us patience during this time. We understand emotions and stress are high, but please know that we will continue to do everything we can to help. Please realize that we do have limited resources in more ways than one, but we have a team of people who care greatly for animals and who work hard every single day to make a difference.
