Someone decided to arrive late to the party! Yesterday our mare, Velvet, gave birth to a beautiful bay roan filly with a small star. Her dad is our stallion, Mason. Both mom and baby are bonding and are doing well with the cooler temperatures. We are working on picking a name for her and she will be available in the spring when she is ready to wean. This scratchboard artwork is made by scratching off the black ink and revealing the white clay from underneath. Foal update- not a ton of running around for him as a nice spring snow storm came through, but that hasn't slowed him down as he has plenty of opinions and spice to go around. We are still working on a foal name for him if anyone has some good ideas. He is 5 panel negative, qualifies for NFQHA, color panel pending (he is turning roan!), and carries 18.75% Roanys Tomcat, 15.62% High Rolling Roany, 15.62% Mr Pete Oswald, 9.37% Gin Blaze, 9.37% Oswalds Pete. He should be a good using size as the dam is on the smaller side around 14.2hh/1100 # and the sire is 16hh/1450 #.

Started the breeding season off to a rocky start with one of our mares unexpectedly aborting one of her foals, but we welcomed two healthy live foals on April 11th and April 12th. We are thankful to have been present for both births! Both mares were bred to our stallion High Rolling Oswald. "Awesome Roan Roma" foaled a gorgeous bay filly whom we have been calling "Vista" and "Petes Moon Hancock" foaled a stunning bay (roan?) Stud c**t with a star and two hind socks. Everyone is doing well and the foals personalities have started to unfold.

Ginger and I attended our second poker ride of the year yesterday in the Blackfoot-Clearwater Game Range near Ovando, MT. The trail was around 8 miles long and took over 4 hours to complete as it was very technical. Lots of downfall and brush to ride over and very muddy. It rained on us the entire time. About 50 riders completed it and there were lots of prizes to win. We had a great ride regardless of the weather, but no luck in winning any prizes.

We hope that everyone has a relaxing and reflective Memorial Day Weekend. Today, Ginger and I, attended our first Poker Ride in the historic town of Virginia City. The loop was about 8 miles and it rained on us the entire time. It was still a fantastic day and she did SO well. We rode solo and had lots of opportunities to pass other rider groups and trot through the sagebrush. Lots of water and bog crossings too. And to top off the great ride, we were the top hand out of 63 riders with a flush of diamonds. We won a nice set of leather saddle bags, grooming tools, horse cookies, and a Montana made flask. We can't wait for the next poker ride!
