Good afternoon HRC BOD Presidents and Committee members,



I want everyone to know my health is not great but I am still actively involved in HRC business! I keep up with current events and read each issue of the Hunting Retriever Magazine from cover to cover.



In the beginning HRC was conceived by Hunters for Hunters. The very first HRC test was a hunt test, not a field trial test with each participant receiving a pass or fail result. The original test was designed to duplicate a day’s hunt in the field using our dog, duck call, shotgun, and real birds up close. Realism was often used in the origins of HRC and the hunt test.



We don’t need to go away from realism in our tests! If clubs can’t get birds at the same price as in the past and need to spend more money on birds, then a price increase on premiums may be necessary or cancel hunt tests.

HRC needs to keep using real birds in our tests!

S**o River HRC would like to thank everyone that came out to support our hunt test this past weekend.

We kicked off our hunt test weekend with Judges arriving to set up their tests followed by a judges dinner at Headquarters. Thank you so much to the judges for giving up their time from running their own dogs to judge our event.
As well as a HUGE Thank You to everyone that pitched in to help work. We could not have had as successful of a weekend without all of you.
And another Huge Thank you to our land owners for allowing us yet again to use their property to hold our events.

We were fortunate to have beautiful weather all weekend. I hope everyone had fun running their dogs ~ Pass or Fail.
Saturday evening at the tailgate/ribbon and raffle we celebrated some big accomplishments for a few Region 2 members

Eric Bartlett - obtained his GRHRCH on his dog Fiona this past Spring Grand and continues to rack up points to her already 500 point club achievement

Jeff Enos - reached 1500 points on his dog Loosi on Saturdays S**o River test

Kevin Rathgeber - reached 1000 points on his dog Otter back at the Lake Audrey test in August.

I would also like to congratulate all Handlers that earned titles on their dogs this past weekend. I apologize for not collecting names over the weekend.

Reminder S**o River HRCs annual hunt test is September 7th & 8th.

Advanced online entries close Tuesday August 27 at 11:59pm.
Day of entries will be accepted each morning until 7:30am (Saturday Sept 7th and Sunday Sept 8th)

Please have your premium filled out and payment ready when you come to HQ to enter. HQ will be at my place again this year.

Fantastic opportunity to gain some insight into the HRC Retriever Hunt Test. We will be meeting and viewing this seminar as a group on the 24th at the Peconic River Sportsman’s Club on River Rd, Manorville,NY. This seminar is open to anyone considering entering an HRC Hunt Test or maybe just wants to see what hunt tests are all about. PSA - UKC/HRC is no longer sending renewal notices. It is up to you the HRC Member to know when your membership is due to renew. Why is this important? Your membership validation is required for many reasons. Point and Title Recognition. Judging Credentials. To participate at The Grand as an Owner and as a Handler. Fail to Renew and it can impact your participation in the sport. Take time over the Holidays to check your membership status and act upon as necessary.
