Garbanzo Bean - Wobblers

✨🐍 Staff Special Pet Spotlight 🐍✨ Brooklin's (You will get to meet quite a few of her pets in the next coming weeks!) Spider Ball Python, Garbanzo Bean! Garbanzo Bean (also goes by Beanie Boy, Beanie Weanie, Bean) - (suspected) Spider Ball Python. I have had since April 2021. Unsure on his exact age and morph (also called a morphology, or the “breed” of the reptile) as he was a rescue - got him from my father’s coworker and needed a new home and some rehabilitation. He is currently on medium frozen/thawed rats every 2-3 weeks. One thing that is special to him is that he has a neurological condition called Wobblers Syndrome. What that entails is that his head doesn't understand the orientation of itself. For example, you know when you tilt your head to your side or if you know you’re upside down? That sense for him is reduced/gone. He will do what is called “corkscrewing” where he will turn his head upside down and wave back and forth. From what research says about this syndrome, it doesn’t hurt them or anything of that nature. The only things that really affect them negatively is if they accidentally hurt themselves while in a Wobbling episode or they will sometimes not strike their prey correctly and get disorientated/hurt. But, reptiles are quite resilient creatures and you just have to make sure that they can’t hurt themselves in their enclosures. The reason why I think his morph is the Spider morph is due to 1. his markings/color and 2. his bad Wobblers Syndrome, as the Spider morph of ball pythons are the poster child for the syndrome. Other morphs that can carry the Wobblers gene include (but not limited to): Woma, Bumble Bee, Champagne, and Powerball (Spotnose X Spotnose). The video is a great example of what Wobblers can look like!
