Ace is staying with us for our 3 week board & train program along with Sutton and Jack! He’s the sweetest boy and turned 5 years old today! Of course we had to take him on a special field trip to pick out a toy and get him a little birthday cake! Happy happy birthday sweet boy! πŸŽ‚

Jack is a 1.5 year old Labrador Retriever who is staying with us for our 3 week board & train! Jack is super sweet, very playful, and obviously adorable! He’s got the goofiest personality and has us cracking up every time we play with him! He lacks some confidence and seems to be shy at times, so we will be taking him out on lots of field trips and working on building up his confidence.

Meet our newest board and train student!

🐾 𝐒 𝐔 𝐓 𝐓 𝐎 𝐍 🐾

Sutton is a 2 year old Golden Retriever who is staying with us for our 3 week board & train. She is very sweet and playful, but is easily overstimulated which has some caused some issues with some of her siblings at home. Over the next few weeks we will be working on lots of obedience and control commands, adding distance and duration around distractions, and teaching her and her siblings how to relax around each other so their parents can manage multiple dogs more easily and have control in every situation.

Meet our newest board & train student!

🐾 𝐀 𝐄 𝐆 𝐈 𝐒 🐾

Aegis (pronounced ee-jiss) is staying with us for a few weeks to work on his obedience and manners out in public. He’s a very sweet boy but he has some problems controlling himself around distractions. His Mom uses him for emotional support, so over the next few weeks we will be taking him on lots of field trips to teach him to be a model citizen so she can feel comfortable taking him into public and continuing his training.

Aegis also has a birthday today and turned ONE!

Meet our newest board & train student!

Shelby has been staying with us for a few weeks to work on some confidence building. She’s very nervous out in public and around loud noises. She’s been making lots of progress and has finally been able to start relaxing and enjoying her time out with us.

Elliot working hard and learning to be calm and neutral around people and other animals at Rural King. Elliot has been staying with us for a few weeks to work through some reactivity issues. He’s been making lots of good progress and we are excited to see the changes he makes during the rest of his program.

🐾 𝐂 𝐎 𝐍 𝐍 𝐎 𝐑 🐾

Connor is currently staying with us for a board & train program. He just turned one and is a Great Pyrenees / Lab mix. His owner has Parkinson’s and was very misguided about how to raise Connor and begin his training. He became very unruly and because of his size, his owner no longer has the strength to physically control him. He’s a very sweet dog, but his over excitement has knocked several people down causing pretty bad injuries and a lot of stress for his family.

While he is with us we will be teaching him a lot of obedience commands to help with his engagement, as well as taking him on field trips out in public to expose him to the real world and work on his control, remaining calm around distractions, and staying focused on his handler. We are excited to see his progress over the next few weeks!

ℝ 𝕆 𝕏 𝕐 πŸ₯°

Roxy is the perfect example of why you should KNOW YOUR BREED. Her owners loved her but could not give her the mental and physical stimulation that is needed for a high-drive herding dog. She was unintentionally set up for failure. The lifestyle she was living was causing her to become stressed and reactive, resulting in her biting a neighbor when they walked in the house. She was going to be euthanized but we decided to bring her to the farm instead and we are so glad that we did. She has been nothing but sweet and loving to everyone she has met while staying with us. She does need some structure and training to make sure these things don’t happen again in the future, so she will be staying with us for several weeks before we try to find the right person to give her the best home.
