Middle GA IEA Equestrian Team
This is my 11th year coaching an IEA Team and the second year as Middle GA IEA Equestrian Team. Last year 7 of our riders made it to Regionals and 2 years in a row, 1 rider made it to National Finals! Head Coach Jennifer Mastronardi. We are now accepting applications for the 2021-2022 show year!! Middle GA Equestrian IEA Team is welcoming all of Middle GA, to help s
upport the love of riding and to assist kids in grades 4-12 who are interested in trying to receive college scholarships by doing something that they are passionate about without the expense of owning a horse! As a member of the Intercollegiate Equestrian Association (IEA), Middle GA Equestrian IEA team’s goal is to promote the common interests of safe riding instruction and competition, develop understanding and appreciation of equestrian sports, provide students with organized competitive events, as well as provide additional equine educational opportunities, specifically to riders who might not have the opportunity otherwise. The Middle GA Equestrian IEA team riders are offered the experience of a lifetime, training as a team and enjoying a well-organized competition circuit. Currently, through the IEA, Middle GA Equestrian IEA student riders have a few
opportunities to earn scholarships towards their college education
When riding for the Middle GA Equestrian IEA team, the emphasis for the rider is totally on the sport and ability to ride, not ownership of a horse that might present an advantage due to its abilities. The unique aspect of these competitions, both at the local and national level, is that it emulates the collegiate riding format where none of the riders supply their own horses or tack. Instead, the horses, saddle and other tack are all provided to the students at the competition by the host team. The equipment and horses may be borrowed from various training barns and facilities. Essentially, the horses are new to the riders, and the scores are based upon horsemanship, not the horse. It allows all riders, no matter the financial backing, to compete on a level playing ground. The initial start up to become a member is $45.00, as a TEAM we will emphasize on having numerous fundraisers and sponsors to pay for the classes and other team expenses in order to keep this affordable to all. The skills the riders develop in this structure of competition are clearly invaluable! Contact Jennifer at 478-320-0954c for Directions
