Sound on—-To anyone who was wondering if livestock can “get used to a schedule”…..This is me trying to get on THEIR schedule! 😂😂😂😂😂I was 10 min late getting alfalfa out and now I’m late for evening milking 🤷♀️😆
Goat kid on lambar bucket!
There’s 3 now that seek it out! They’ve all been started on the bottle so they’ll get it-especially when they’re separated from mom the first time!
LGD around stock: Baby season
Faye continues to do good and has supervised time only again due to the fact it’s lambing and kidding season. She has shown some resource guarding towards the stock over placenta (I missed picking it up) and has responded well to correction. Here she was around the stock just watching and did great with the babies. I’m watching for any signs of resource guarding (big no at this house/farm!) or overly interested in babies quick movements and noises.

Piggie girls were let out to explore! I didn’t know piggies had zoomies! 😂❤️
They had a great time despite the sheep and goats being a little… unfriendly.
Here come the little beach balls bouncing down the lane to the dinner buffet!!
😂😂😂🐐🐐🐐
Snug-like little bugs in the rug. After lots of snow this week, negative temps to follow. And only 6 weeks until babies arrive!
Snufflin out the breakfast bits that went flying…
Alfalfa time!
The girls looooove their evening chow 🤣
Now that the feeder stations are in the pasture instead of up in the barnyard, they have to walk quite a ways for meals….always screaming on the way!😂😂
🎵 Tis the season to be smelly
Bla blah bla BLAAAHHH
Deck the barn with yellow beards
Blub bluh blub bluh bluh
Watch or you’ll be in the spray zone!
HA HA HAHA HA! 🎵
Happy Fall Yall! Watch your shoes and don’t get buck blubbered 😂😂🫣😬😜
Finally got a good video of the night patrol lol!
Ok, so I know generally rule is housedogs+lgd don’t mix well-this was a top concern of mine before getting an lgd since I have 4 housedogs (roam the farm and respectful of livestock). I was fully prepared to add fencing, and separate like Fort Knox! Faye the lgd was introduced properly and socialized to house dogs since puppyhood daily, yet she lived and bonded with livestock full time since day 1.
I MY situation (which has been watched closely since day 1) Faye has working team/partner bonded with my female/spayed German shepherd. They play every day and both listen to commands great, but they also work very well together keeping away predators; MY situation has uniquely worked out.
Video is of them working together as a team to guard the property from coyotes. They were in the field next to the property on both sides. Notice how they both listen, alert, warn the intruder, and pay attention to me and each other. They also stop when there’s no more threat, and they don’t get so worked up they take aggression out on each other-level headed animals that know their jobs. Good breeding, great early start, and good handling all work together!
