The PHAR van, that has transported thousands of animals, has spent most of the summer in the garage. There were mulitple things that needed fixed. From the windshield to the AC. Now the muffler needs replaced. It has cost PHAR thousands of dollars that we desperately need to help animals. If you would like to donate to help us get some of that cost back, you can do so by using the attached paypal. Thank you!!!! We greatly appreciate it. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.paypal.com%2Fdonate%2F%3Fhosted_button_id%3DFFDN752EH7H66%26fbclid%3DIwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR255M6_bfNHYBWpfBxm2w77jGMKEEkr3rS8pHeiOnA-1q50Drr9jWDl9mo_aem_LVv1oqT6bvelQq53wIj4_w&h=AT09lUCgypoeq5nSrhIq8DhyrFkLM2yNvquk7oGSoVqUYy7Qbkx2cOGR1-jpoWwejPE_84lRKLbkB7RJQ1XM1VAGzHvUAz_rBzZXqn-EWAZfMOuQKAvwjMr8CEAvzS5B2w&__tn__=%2CmH-R&c[0]=AT0vn02vwAdzktu8iklHc4mqz6-DQ6OAUVCOuiO-0iBRUwLBE7ssvOlroF7YEer0oQdk4vlkfjpA-5kcAiD1Qc243glcT1s-Vys_pyBixS6e1NgdwjEiZfGyUrD1odFSolItRUqn9zm4pEcjzX4fqtY0BQGlFh2KLzgvThb2P9IOKfhZoZZDOPJSkWZPGEkIM60vREM0u4foXNkhAGs8yEPY0A

Last week about a dozen dogs were dumped on Dolly Sods. With the help of several people, all but one of those dogs have been trapped and are safe. There is one lonely little female left. The Berg family has graciously been trying to trap her for days. PHAR gave them 2 traps in hopes that she would eventually go into one of them. This morning they discovered that someone stole one of the traps! You have no idea what your selfish, greedy act has done. Rescue is hard enough without people like you adding to it. PHAR is a very small rescue with less then a handful of volunteers. We help both Hardy and Grant County dogs. We work solely off of the very small amount of donations that we receive. Buying another trap is not an option for us.
If anyone has any info on who may have stolen our trap, please let us know. The trap looks similiar to the one pictured. To everyone who has worked tiredly getting these dogs safe, thank you!!

Volunteering for a rescue sure has its share of good and bad days. Today was definitely one of the good days. Thankfully, through a microchip we were able to reunite a dog with his family that he hasn't seen for months!!! Microchips saves lives!!!!!!!!!

We cannot thank Animal Welfare League of Arlington for helping us with this poor girl!!!
This is Libby. She had a condition called entropion. Entropion is a condition in which your eyelid turns inward so that your eyelashes and skin rub against the eye surface. We think she had been suffering from this very painful condition for years. Can you even imagine the discomfort??? These are her before and after pictures. Doesn't she look amazing???? Almost like a different dog! We thank you Animal Welfare League of Arlington(and all our other rescue partners) for always stepping up and coming to the aid of our PHAR animals. We definitely couldn't do what we do without your help!

If you have a dog or see a dog that may have this condition, please get them vet care asap.

In 2011, we were able to help a beautiful hound that we named Maddie. She had decided that she didn't want to chase bears and her owner at the time decided that she wasn't any use to him anymore. Fortunately, Animal Welfare League of Alexandria was able to help us find her the most perfect home. We recently heard from her new family and sadly, Maddie(renamed Dagny) had passed away after filling their lives with so much unconditional love for 9 wonderful years. This is the amazing story that they shared:

"When Dagny joined our family, she became a military brat and got to see the world. She lived in Virginia, Alabama, Pennsylvania, and Los Angeles. She dipped her paws in both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. She saw five national parks, including the Grand Canyon and Death Valley. She went to Mountaineer Field in Morgantown with me, Bill Snyder Family Stadium at Kansas State with my wife, Karen, and pretended to be Smokey (the Tennessee mascot) while walking the campus of UT.

Heck, she’s also been to Dodger Stadium and the Hollywood sign!!!

And, in the end, she wasn’t that bad of a hunting dog...she got her a few squirrels in back in the day. :)

Thank you so much for the work you do - which enabled Dagny’s rescue and eventually to become a part of our family and lives. She was truly an amazing soul and we miss her dearly.

We’ll be taking her out to Cabins to spread her ashes in the coming week or two. She is, after all a mountaineer by birth"

Wouldn't it be terrific if all our dogs were lucky enough to live this life???
