Slip/Ella pups ready to go!😍 Tested clear for everything. Should be awesome sheep dogs and sensible cattle dogs. Won’t be the rip and tear type dogs but anyone who has seen Dale and Slip know they can get a lot done and he’s a good type to have around. Ella has been a great lambing and sheep trial dog and is a good lesson dog. I’ll be making a trip to just out of St. Louis this weekend and Nebraska and South Dakota next week if you are looking for your next helper.

Ruby and I had some really good luck and fun times this week. Messed up some too but that’s dog trialing. Got to see a lot of people I’ve missed and make some new friends. Thanks Steve Wight, Jeannie Biggers and crew for putting on a marathon event, went off like clockwork again.

Ruby is coming home with the 2024 National Finals Nursery Ultimate Stockdog Reserve Buckle. I was so proud of her as I ran her 15 times this week and she was always there when I blew that whistle. She had 5th in the Nursery Sheep average and won the first Open cattle Thanks Mountain States Stockdog Association for a the great memories. Thanks Shannon Fritz for this cool pup!!

It’s with a full heart I would like to thank all who helped support the first Open Lock Trial. First off Bobby D***s and Anuschka Bland for showing up early and helping set up these wonderful new arena panels, Bobby, Dan Haley, Brent Burgoin for helping run the cattle through. You all did a great job with them in some really miserable weather. Marvin Daniel, Dan Haley, AngieSam Brooks for your exemplary judging and clerking. Randy LeAnn Monroe for all you did clerking, set out, fantastic chili and even better cheering us on! Aimee Nelson, David Sonny Mahurin for taking care of the books and computer stuff . Anuschka for keeping everything running while this went on. Our wonderful neighbor and friend Lyn Santa for the best stew and site prep to make the place look nice! Gill Chateauvert for award winning pies! Everyone who brought the delicious food. The neighbors and new friends who showed up to support our trial and see what the crazy dog people are all about.😁

Most of all my husband Dale Bulkley for all he does to support my dog habit! I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do it without you!

Last but certainly not least is all the handlers that showed up and ran their dogs with smiles and laughter. You truly make it all worthwhile.

1+1= well, 5 in this case! Slip and Ella are pleased to announce that they have 4 girls and a boy. Should be some good ones. Slip is great on cattle and sheep and Ella is very biddable, has a nice heel bite, awesome outrun and good for gathering and lambing. Great for jugging ewes and bringing heavies in. Pretty excited about this cross. Message for more information.

I received my ABCA ballot today. I was surprised that there were very few cattle producers represented in the candidates and none strictly cattle.

I feel the ABCA is ostracizing a huge block of the Border Collie community that utilizes and raises these dogs and I think a bit of fresh air on the board would do them a world of good. After giving much consideration to my choice I decided to write in David Sonny Mahurin. He has been heavily involved in trialing raising and training these dogs, he has served selflessly on the NCA board and as a reasonable voice in many issues.

If you too are surprised by the lack of variety on the ABCA board in ever expanding world of the working Border Collie please consider writing Sonny in as well.
