The Cabot Animal Shelter, Cabot Animal Support Services, and Animal Field Services will be closed today in observance of President's Day. We will be open tomorrow for normal business hours. If you have an animal emergency, please contact the non-emergency number for the Cabot Police Department, and they will page an officer out. 5018436526.

Surgery appointments are now open for the month of March!!

The fee per pet under 100lbs is $100 which includes the spay or neuter and a Rabies vaccine if your pet is not up to date. You can apply for a voucher to offset a portion of the cost through the CARE for Animals website (https://www.careforanimals.org/spay-neuter-assistance) or Arkansans Assisting Homeless Animals - AAHA website (https://www.aaharescue.com/spayneuter-voucher). Both will decrease the surgery fee by $40-$50 per pet. You can't beat those prices!

Come see us today from 11-3 at the Cabot Justice Center parking lot (next to Chick-fil-A) for our "Puppy Love" Valentine's Adoption Event!! All pets on the Mobile Adoption Unit are just $14 to adopt today in honor of Valentine's Day. If you don't find exactly what you are looking for there, stop by the shelter from noon to 5pm and see all of the available pets who are waiting on new homes. All available dogs at the shelter are also just $14 to adopt today! We can't wait to see how many loving pets get new homes today!!

We had the best time at Stagecoach Elementary working through a STEM "problem" with the entire 1st grade! We presented the problem....too many pets, not enough volunteers, and too few donations. The 1st graders then worked through ways to help solve this problem by devising a plan and figuring out how they would make the plan happen. Seeing these little minds come up with BIG ideas to solve our concerns was truly amazing. My absolute favorite was flying a helicopter carrying a banner that said "Adopt a Pet Now"! It was the best focus group we've ever been a part of!

Our community pet pantry is currently out of dry cat food. This sweet kitty was brought to us by a kind citizen upon noticing an injury to her tail. After an exam, we realized her tail was "lame" and the bone was exposed. Upon x-ray, she was also found to have a compressed spine in the areas of C3, C4, and C5. Dr. Pallone recommended that we do a full tail amputation due to the location of the compression. The quote is $350 for the surgery. Please donate if you can so that we can get this sweet kitty on the road to recovery very soon!

****COMMUNITY PSA****

Glue Traps: Pans of Pain!!! We received a call today regarding a Carolina Wren who had flown into a garage and become stuck in a glue trap. Officer Cox was dispatched out to retrieve the poor soul in hopes that we would be able to save it. Upon arrival, we assessed the situation and realized that the Wren had pulled ALL of its tail feathers and some of its flight feathers out during the struggle to remove itself. We were able to safely release the bird from the glue but unfortunately, it will have to be transferred to a Federally Permitted Rehabilitator before it can be released back into the wild due to the inability to fly.

STOP USING GLUE TRAPS!! They are one of the cruelest methods of killing animals in existence. All manners of creatures become trapped by them. They are indiscriminate!! Animals trapped in the glue panic and struggle, which causes them to become even more helplessly stuck. Often, the glue tears off their fur, feathers, or skin. Some break bones or even chew off their own limbs in a desperate attempt to escape. Please JUST STOP!!!

!!Foster Needed!!

We are currently looking for an indoor foster family to house this sweet, neutered male cat. A kind citizen brought him in after she noticed that he was limping. He is currently recovering from some minor injuries to his leg and paws but we anticipate a full recovery. We estimate that it may take 1-2 months to heal. During this time, he needs a calm and quiet environment where he can rest and heal properly. All medications are provided. Today, part of our team attended the Best Friends Animal Society "Bring No-Kill Home" Summit in Little Rock! More than half of the shelters in Arkansas have reached "no-kill" status, but we strive to bridge the lifesaving gap to to every shelter in the state. By using tools and strategies that we learned today, we hope that we can continue to keep the city of Cabot progressive, produce more positive outcomes for pets in our community, and provide valuable resources to our citizens to allow them to be the best pet owner they can be.

Meet Delta!

This sweet girl has been with us for about a month now. She’s the definition of a social butterfly! Whether it’s humans or other puppies, she’s eager to spread joy to everyone she meets.

With all that excitement, Delta’s enthusiasm has led to her having something called “happy tail,” where her tail wags so hard and often that it can cause minor issues. We think it’s best for Delta to find a foster home where she can have space to run, play, and keep that happy tail wagging freely without any worries.
