A few months back Frank went to live with my daughter after she moved out of the house. Shyann reported she took him to the dog park, Starbucks, and then had a party at home to celebrate. He’s such a good beefy boy! 🥳 Proud momma/grandma moment 🐾🎉🦴❤️🐶

If you’ve ever traveled with a basset (or any animal) you know to never get to the airport less than 2 hours from boarding time and to be prepared with all your documents. And word to wise-order your drink/food tray online early from Petco - as these 2 dishes cost me $60 whereas the smaller ones that hook to the door are only $5/piece normally but not every Petco caries them in stock. Took us 2 hours just to get through this line and get out kennel inspection in Hawaii for this guy. Never assume the airline has zip ties either…bring 2 just in case for the door (after inspection). Miss this boy but happy he’s with his mama (my daughter) being a California basset.

Not all people love Basset Hounds, dogs in general, or animals. They do not understand what a dog means to those they are loved by. We have always raised our bassets on our farm, countryside however, in the past two years, we’ve had the opportunity to be abroad on our road to returning to the west coast (Idaho) and because our Basset Hounds are family, they have traveled with us to Guam and now, Hawaii. We were planning on moving them to Idaho later this year however, we are making the crucial decision to move them expeditiously because we found rat bait thrown over our fence today that was partially eaten making our oldest mama dog very sick as you would expect. Unfortunately, police involvement was not fruitful as unless you catch someone in the actual act. You cannot charge a person criminally, even though we have a 6 foot cement fence and they are the only house on the other side. This post is not a rant, but rather a how to on what do you do if your dog has ate rat poison intentionally or not. We are monitoring our 10 year old momma, Lilly and so far she is stable. The Vet was immediately contacted as was poison control. Always make sure potentially toxic items are always out of these investigatory snouts. BeChewy Posted a how to on December 6, 2023
