My old friends Smoky and Nova are here for a bit of a refresher in training and impulse control ahead of their new human baby brothers arrival.

A few quick tips for introducing your fur babies to your human baby:

1) Renew Good training habits, structure and consistency before the baby comes home.

2) Enforce boundaries

3) Set the expectations for your dogs behavior. Reward the dog for laying down around the baby or stay on place.

4) Give your dog a baby free space for them to relax in (crate or dog bed)

5) Reward them for being calm

6) Desensitize them to smells and sounds of the baby slowly

7) Don't force socialization (allow them to be exposed to the baby, they don't need to have direct contact right away)

Today was Skye's last day of Boot Camp. These last days are always very bittersweet. We establish a firm bond and a good relationship through training, consistency, structure and enforcing boundaries. There's plenty of treats and affection used as rewards. But the best reward for me as the trainer is to see the behavior change from wild and out of control to calm relaxed and focused. The end of boot camp is always just a new beginning. It's where the The dog can experience their truest role within the family is to be the ultimate companion. Skye is a great example of a dog that made that transformation.
