I always valued quilts and the traditions they held, but no one in my family quilted. My learning grew from a couple of quilts for her family to a co-worker asking for a t-shirt quilt to preserve fire department memories. If ever there was an organic start to a business, QuiltMamma is it. Initially founded in 2013, I paused my business from 2018-2022 to aid my husband in his business. Opening back
up in 2023, Darci loves creating memories for her clients. I grew up loving kids and wanting to be a teacher. After achieving that goal and teaching for nine years, I was able to quit teaching in order to focus on my kids and my quilt-making. I now lives on our 16-acre farm with my husband and three children; as well as their 4 horses, 5 chickens, 2 goats, 3 bunnies and 3 dogs. Don’t worry, my studio is in the city, so your special items are protected from farm life. I'm looking forward to meeting you and creating your own special quilt.
After a summer filled with fun with the kids (and LOTS of driving), I’m finally back in my happy place! I’ve got one thing to finish, several to start and finish, but I’ve decided on the way I want my quilt business to go. I can’t wait to share with y’all when I’m ready!

Well 💩! I said I wasn’t going to make this pattern again, but this would be a great follow up to the Texas version! Who would be interested in a raffle for this one if I made it?
I’ve decided to highlight one quilt a day and have a little story time. I don’t just make quilts, I listen to stories, hug people when they cry and offer them a gift to always treasure the memory. This was the first t-shirt quilt I ever made. I’ve learned A LOT since then. I was a teacher and had made a quilt for someone else. Another coworker asked me to make her husband a tshirt quilt. He had just made captain and she wanted to surprise him with this. I said sure! Then, started researching, then told her I couldn’t do it, I was afraid to cut them up. She said, “Sure you can, it’ll be fine!” So I did. In the end, the husband called me in tears, thanking me for his quilt. ❤️🚒👨🚒🔥

FAQ:
1. What kind of shirts can you use?
I work hard to incorporate any items of clothing that are special to you.
2. Do you only make tshirt quilts?
No! I can make a pattern quilt, I can use clothing from a loved one that has passed away, button up shirts, all fabric quilts, and more!
3. How long does it take?
Once we’ve agreed on the layout and the contract is signed, it takes 2-4 weeks to complete your quilt. We have to factor in other quilts that might already be booked to figure time to completion.
4. How do I get my shirts to you and how do I get my quilt back?
I’m in central Texas and happy to meet. I drive to the Houston area often to visit friends and family. I’m also happy to receive packages and will ship your quilt back with insurance coverage.
5. What makes your quilts different from online companies that are less expensive?
I do all the work! I lay out the shirts in an aesthetically pleasing pattern and get your approval. I cut the shirts, so you don’t have to. I also complete further steps to ensure your quilt is a lasting treasure. I stabilize the shirts to prevent stretching, I provide batting to go in the middle, and all over quilting is provided to strengthen the quilt.
6. How much is this gonna cost me?
This is the question I get asked most and it’s hard to answer because each quilt is custom for you and your items. A good idea for t-shirt quilts is $30-$45 per shirt.
7. So, how do I get started?
That’s pretty easy-just message me! We’ll chat and arrange getting your items to me. I’ll lay out the quilt and we’ll chat some more. You’ll sign a contract, pay a deposit, and I’ll get you in line!

For those keeping up, Rosie got let out in the pasture full time! The next big step will be for Eli to start riding her, but he can’t do that until October. I’ve been encouraged by a handful of people to do another raffle-we still have her vet bill. So, I may try one in a few weeks when I fee caught up on the other two raffle quilts.
