Ride for Joy Therapeutic Riding Program

Ride for Joy Therapeutic Riding Program Providing professional and compassionate equine assisted activities and therapies to individuals wit

The Ride for Joy Therapeutic Riding program is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that incorporated April 2007 but has been operational since 1998. Ride for Joy (RFJ) offers therapeutic riding in the greater Treasure Valley for individuals, along with Military personnel and Veterans with medical disabilities. Horses have the ability to read, understand, and relay emotional and physical stresses

that people are experiencing. They have helped individuals build a stronger sense of security, confidence and strengthening of coping mechanisms. For people with physical limitations or needs, horses have been shown to re-teach and strengthen balance, coordination, and motor functions.

I’m Twisty! As the oldest member of the Ride for Joy herd, I bring a "been there, done that" attitude that makes me the perfect teacher for beginners and little riders. Of course, I have my quirks—like sneaking out of my stall if you’re not keeping an eye on me! Food is my absolute favorite thing in the world, so if it’s around while I’m working, don’t be surprised if I get a little distracted.

My name is Jones! I’m a tall and lean OTTB (off the track Thoroughbred), meaning that I was a racehorse in my younger days! After that I became an eventer, traveling across the country for shows. Now in my middle age, I prefer to take it a little slower, but I can still be spicy when the staff ride me! In lessons, I’m cool as a cucumber and will take very good care of my students.
