Horses and Highlands Two Sparks Farm offers horse pasture board and raises Scottish Highland Cattle. Emma has been riding horses since she was 6 years old.

She attended The Ohio State University, majoring in Animal Sciences with an Equine focus. She is an avid horsewoman and truly cares for the well-being of the horses she cares for. Jason is a full time Mechanical Engineer who is no stranger to the hard work of farm life. Having grown up in the area working with many of the local farmers as a kid, he is excited to be back in the area and starting a farm of his own. www.twosparksfarm.com

It's up. I still don't know if I believe it, but it's up.

A huge, I-can't-possibly-use-the-right-words thank you to the entire Strine/Burbury family. Without ALL of them, none of this would have been possible. Let's be real, our entire farm would not exist without them. They are a big part of the reason we moved here, and they have blessed us in dividends. God has had His hands in this one for a LONG time. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Life has been life-ing, y'all! Wrestling season came and went (and is about to start again 😶), boys growing like weeds, and big big changes happening.

One of the biggest changes is what you see in the picture below. We've got an indoor arena in progress! She's a beaut and she's also been a lot of work. We've got just a little more work to do, and we'll be ready to ride! So exciting 🤭

Sorry for the radio silence over the last year. We pray all of you have been well!

From where I stand 2.0 (version 1 was two years ago)

A brief hiatus from the mud.
Just enough snow/frost for a tiny human to eat.
Sunshine and blue skies.
A white house with a green roof that makes a home.

God continues to bless us. Look for the JOY in today, friends. It's always there. ❤️

Hello 2023!

We are well into mud/wrestling/feeder season. Busy, busy, busy!

We survived the cold snap of Christmas '22 and are surviving the warm up of New Years '23. The giant swing of temperatures that brought that cold snap was already scary, but having rain right before was even worse. Our cows used the wind block that we put up for them. They all had snow on their backs (means their coats are doing their jobs), but they were still cold! We kept hay in front of them for the next 3 days, around the clock. Having it warm up to 60° a week later is also not ideal. Water and continuous access to hay have been just as important to fend off pneumonia and colic. Now, we just pray to keep "normal" winter temperatures for a while.

The horses got their "Christmas salad" and enjoyed every bite. Miss Kitty is still beautiful and spoiled. God has been painting the sky to keep us smiling, and the Nutbrown tiny humans are not so tiny anymore.

Farm views.

As the days get shorter, it's hard not to wish summer would linger just a bit longer. There's always that to-do list that doesn't seem to get any shorter. We're always grateful for a beautiful evening to cross off some of that list. Getting to watch a beautiful sunset sink down is a welcome bonus.

2 minutes of horse shenanigans. They're big ol' goofballs.

This is one of my favorite things that our Highlands do, helping a friend out with a head scratch. I'd like to think the scratchee asked the scratcher before using her horn, but I'm sure that was not the case. Have a great weekend! May you enjoy the company of a good friend. ❤

2 minutes of Highland shenanigans. Ignore my cow-mom voice. I like to egg them on when they're crazy like this! Watching cows run and buck is ALWAYS entertaining. Happy Friday, friends. ❤

Night-time shenanigans

Just some facey-games by the light of the moon. (Yes, Cord said "yellow-butt." It's easier for him to say than Lance. 😂)

I was thankful for the chuckle while trying to get these beauties into a new pasture. Jack Frost is one of my favorite cows and one of the friendliest, which sometimes makes it difficult to move him. He completely misjudged the little rise in the ground and face-planted! 🤣 The cows got moved to our newest pasture so they could fulfill their jobs as lawnmowers.

Everybody is loving this weather! Leo and Lance were playing then Lance decided to be done, so Leo started running around by himself. Who knew horses got the zoomies too?? This was the very end of them. He made probably 5 laps before I started the video. The sun is shining, the grass is greener, and everybody is happy! ☀️

Two and a half minutes of the ponies playing in the snow. Hope it makes you smile as much as me! Have a great week, friends. 😊

New pasture!

I went to check on Little Bear (he's doing great!) and the horses decided they were feeling good! I love watching them run and play like this. I don't catch it very often so I thought I would share it with y'all. It had just rained and that's why they're slipping and sliding and making me nervous! Side note...it looks like Frosty is getting picked on in the beginning, but I assure you he was dishing it out just as much earlier. He was wanting so bad to roll so he was trying to tell the other boys "go away." He holds his own with everybody else!

Eeek! I'm so giddy right now. Little Bear needs to be castrated soon so I figured I should probably halter train him to make that process a little easier. It went so well!! He fought it a little at first then I loved on him and applied my same training from horses and he followed no fuss. Lots and lots of praise will continue to make this process easy-peasy. Plus, Little Bear has brindle coloring and looks SO good in blue. Ugh, he is so cute.
