Broke & Busted Meeting Minutes
BBSC Meeting Date: January 12, 2025 1:00PM Calhoun C**t Show Building
Called to order by President, Shelly Acosta
In Attendance:

Note:
*Thank you to Cindy Elliott, Christina Jinks, Shelly Acosta for soups, Renae Barb for bottled water and various other attendees for supplying various delicious foods for all of us to consume prior to the meeting! All attendees were given a raffle ticket and as their number was called to go to front table and select an item for themselves.
Officer Elections:
• Christina Jinks was nominated as treasurer, a motion to elect Christina was made and seconded, all present voted in favor, and Christina was confirmed as Treasurer.
• Renae Barb was nominated as Secretary, a motion to elect Renae was made and seconded, all present voted in favor and Renae was confirmed as Secretary.
• Matthew Breshears & C**ton Barb were nominated as Vice President, a motion to vote was made and seconded, C**ton Barb received 3 votes, Matthew received 16 votes, Matthew Breshears was confirmed as Vice President.
• Shelly Acosta was nominated as President, a motion to elect Shelly was made and seconded, all present voted in favor and Shelly was confirmed as President.
Treasurer Report: $3360
Insurance Report:
Shelly Acosta reported on insurance quotes, answered questions regarding insurance policies. A motion was made and seconded and passed, to authorize the officers to choose & bind the best insurance policy for BBSC, 23 voted in favor. We will be putting up new signage, insurance isn’t needed if we don’t host event, all dogs must be leashed at our events, no rough stock is covered by any of these quotes and require addl. policy. All policies insure up to 100 members and member events, with multiple public events.

• Equisure 1238.00 ( Loyds)
There were other quotes, but these were the best 3 options. The officers will vote and report back to members, what policy was chosen.
Note: No horse/rider are covered by any of these policies. We must have signed releases from all riders and handlers. If it is decided to hold additional public events, we must notify insurance agent and pay additional fee for that event. Amount TBA by insurance company at that time.
We will ensure that signs regarding Missouri Equine Law are posted at the arena.
LIABILITY WAIVER MISSOURI §537.325
WARNING Under Missouri law, an equine activity sponsor, an equine professional, a livestock activity sponsor, a livestock owner, a livestock facility, a livestock auction market, or any employee thereof is not liable for an injury to or the death of a participant in equine or livestock activities resulting from the inherent risks of equine or livestock activities pursuant to the Revised Statutes of Missouri. “Inherent risks of an equine activity” also means a danger or condition that is an integral part of an equine activity, including, but not limited to, any of the following: (a) Propensity of an equine to behave in ways that may result in injury, death, or loss to persons on or around the equine; (b) The unpredictability of an equine’s reaction to sounds, sudden movement, unfamiliar objects, person, or other animals; (c) Hazards, including, but not limited to, surface or subsurface conditions; (d) A collision with another equine, another animal, a person, or an object; (e) The potential of an equine activity participant to act in a negligent manner that may contribute to injury, death, or loss to the person of the participant or to other persons, including but not limited to, failing to maintain control over an equine or failing to act within the ability of the participant.
2025 Awards: Discussion was had over what awards we would give in 2025. A motion was made and 2nd, a vote of 21decided that
• All participants will receive ribbons (1st – 3rd place) If you do not want your ribbons, you can turn them back into the officers to be used again. (estimated cost of ribbons for 1 year $250)
• Each division will receive a High Point Buckle in 2025 (cost approx. $120 each) Buckles need to be sponsored. We are currently seeking sponsors for Broke & Busted Saddle Club and its events. Help is encouraged & appreciated.
BBSC Rule Book Revision: a motion was made and 2nd, vote of 20 Yay 1 Nay. Motion carried to revise BBSC Rule Book.
“Replacement horse for point calculation must be approved by officers and officers may require proof, that original horse is lame (not just replaced/sold).

2025 Memberships forms are available
• Membership dues must be paid, prior to your 1st show to ensure that your points are calculated for the 2025 High Point Division Buckles
2025 Schedule of Events was handed out. We will have ¼ page with show line up

BBSC Poker Run, April 12 @ Lonnie Price Memorial Arena – More details coming soon
BBSC will hold meeting prior to start of each show followed by a rider meeting for that show.
A motion was made, seconded and all present voted to adjourn meeting.
