What is a microchip? A microchip is a small, electronic chip that is about the size of a grain of rice and is injected under your pet's skin using a hypodermic needle. The procedure is no more painful than a standard injection.

The chip transmits your pet's identification number to a scanner, which displays the number on the screen, making it possible for a shelter or animal hospital to locate registry information.

For foals the focus is roundworms, while for yearlings & adult horses, it includes small stronglyes (including encysted forms) and tapeworms. Consider adding a quantitative f***l test to your next farm call, or drop a sample off at the hospital anytime.

Traditionally, surgical patients have been sent home with a plastic cone (or e-collar) to prevent being able to lick or bite at incisions. This is crutial for the proper healing and recovery of a surgical site.
