People always ask me, why birds? whats so cool about birds that people spend so much money on them? For me, its owning a creature straight from the dinosaur era. Waking up and feeding animals most people only see at animal kingdom. Learning about different species/subspecies & evolution. Most birds also live a very long time, 30-80 years. Many years longer than the dogs people (including me) have spent 2500-5000 on. Birds are loyal companions and can enjoy family outings far easier than bringing the family dog. 🦜 And on that note...baby female eclectus! These are my favorite species because they have such a sweet fruity smell, they talk fantastic and immitate sounds so accurately, they enjoy a wide variety of veggies and the male looks completely different than the female (sexually dimorphic). Pionus alert! Hank is a handsome 12 year old Blue Headed Pionus looking for his perfect forever home. While nervous, he's super gentle and sweet. He'd be a great shoulder buddy for someone who has a lot time throughout their day to share with a special friend. He just wants to be near you and he makes THE CUTEST sounds when you rub the right spot on his neck. Just adorable. Pionus have this mildly sweet scent to them that's quite pleasant and while they are known to be quieter parrots, they do have a high pitch call when they can't see their flock and need some attention.

We just know the right, gentle, calm person is out there looking for a wonderful buddy like Hank.

Cartona This is the hardest part for us, and the best part for his new family. Such a sweet, playful, talkative, special boy. We miss him so much already but look forward to updates from his new mom as frequently as possible.

White doves are quite social and do well in pairs or flocks. We currently have a young pair of siblings here at Avalon Aviary Bird Store.

They eat a Dove seed and pellet diet, along with veg and fruit.

They make lovely cooing sounds and an excited sound that very similar to a laugh.

They were handled as babies and are not startled by hands in their cages. They don't step up, like a parrot, but they can get used to being handled.

If you are interested in these cuties, come by the store and see them!

Please check out our store hours as they may have changed since you last visited us. (We are closed Thursday's, for example, for the time being).

Per Larimer County, masks are required in store for all individuals 3 years old and up. Thank you!
