And that, is how it’s done!

Through the kindness, generosity and compassion of many, adorable Alloy has already had orthopedic surgery and is back in his foster home less than 24 hours after arriving in our care, and only about 48 hours after we heard about him. And besides that, the veterinarian who adopted his brother, Dr Franquelin, saw him and offered to do the surgery, and his friend, world renowned orthopedic surgeon Scott Fetherston, offered to help. Al had an amazing dream team and he’s on the mend with a beautiful future.

This adorable puppy was a shelter stray with a broken leg when the same rescue angel who alerted us to the six Old English Sheepdog/Golden Retriever pups that we recently rescued saw his photo in a shelter in the same area and realized he had to be a littermate. We immediately sent a volunteer who drove hours in the blistering heat to pick him up from the shelter and get him safe to us. By total coincidence a local veterinarian, Dr. Steve Franquelin from Calistoga Pet Clinic, happened to be visiting with his wife to adopt one of Al’s littermates. He saw Al and immediately offered to take him back to his clinic and assess his fracture and take x-rays. Surgery was done today.

Al and his brothers are 3 months old and expected to mature at 50-80 pounds.

This is Alloy! An old English sheepdog mix that is 3 months old and was tragically abandoned and found injured with a broken leg. Dr. Franquelin and Dr. Fetherston teamed up to relieve this little guy from his broken leg! Thank you Dr. Fetherston for always being there for animals and being the best at what you do! Licorice is one brave girl that has been tracking down, feeding, providing care for, and so much more for a few months now. She was roaming the streets of Calistoga for some time and finally was rescued and brought to the clinic for a spay! This was one special case of the day as it is highly important and impactful to spay and neuter your pets! This allows for less spread of diseases, less feral animals, and less strays! Unfortunately there are shelters that are at capacity and do end up having to euthanize unadopted animals to make more room for those who need a home. Spaying and neutering can also benefit your pet’s health! Licorice is the perfect example as to why spaying and neutering is SO important 🐶🤍🐾
