Last week, our friend Susan Haines donated two very nice foldable crates. We took a photo of them when her husband brought them by, but we got busy and forgot to post it. Now we can’t find the photo. It’s been a busy week, but that’s no excuse for not thanking someone. So, thank you, Susan. We appreciate the crates and your kindness. ❤️

Dr. Phibes was a street cat who probably wouldn’t be around today if it wasn’t for a kind rescuer who tnr’d him, fostered him, then brought him to us.
Tomorrow is our final day to raise funds for our local tnr organization, Ventura County Feline Trap and Rescue. A couple of generous supporters put us over $400 today. Can we try to break $500? We’ve included our QR codes for Venmo and PayPal here.
The Doctor thanks you in advance. ❤️❤️❤️

We’ll continue to collect money for Ventura County Feline Trap and Rescue through the weekend. All money put in our tip jars during the month of February has been designated for them, a total of $205 so far. We’d love to double that this weekend if we can. Come on by and make a donation; we’re open 11-5, and we also have a mail slot you can slide checks and money into after hours. ✂️🐈‍⬛.

Little Miss Kismet got to choose the cookies today because her eye has been healing so nicely! Next recheck in two weeks, and then she may be able to finally come to the cafe. By the way, she chose chocolate chip with sprinkles. 💖💖💖

Graduate Oreo’s dad asked us to post this photo. “Please share this with the cat ladies at the cafe, he wrote. “Couldn’t be much better. Even my multi-cat sister says, ‘Wow!’ Your methods work. You should be proud.”

Thanks, Dave. How well a cat acclimates to a new home depends on a lot of factors: prior socialization, the area in the home the cat starts out in, temperament of resident cats and dogs, patience of the humans involved, and the phase of the moon. (Only half-kidding about the last one.)

We take all of these things into account when helping an adopter, but the most important factor, of course, is whether the cat picked the person. And, in this case, Oreo clearly chose Dave.

If you are thinking of adopting, please visit several shelters several times. Be open to having a cat you might never have considered choose you. She may be a different color, breed, age, or temperament. She may be missing an eye, leg or tail. She may have a tipped ear. She may be part of a bonded pair that cannot be separated. When she gives you that slow blink, then a headbutt, then winds around your legs, she’s telling you you’re the one.

Just ask Oreo and Dave.

Who’s staying at the cafe while his house is tented? Sammy, formerly Jack Black, that’s who! We thought having our old man stay at the cafe, a place he is accustomed to, would be easier on him than staying at a cat hotel. Come say hi; he’ll be with us until Friday. 🖤🖤🖤

Ventura County’s 1st & only Cat-fe!

Yes, it’s true! There is now a Cat Cafe right here in Camarillo, California. You don’t have to drive to LA to get your purr on! We also have a boutique full of cute cat kitsch for humans that we call our Flea Market ;)
