I had a customer ask me to find out how much sand is in my unsifted castings. I took a scoop and ran water through it off about twenty minutes and it ran black as it rinsed out the castings. I was very impressed with this result. There was about ten percent sand/gravel left when I was done. If it was sifted it would have been around 5 percent.
My castings are started with a leaf mulch instead of peat moss, so there is sand that comes in with the leaves but there is no peat moss. Most popular castings have a peat moss base that is still peat moss after the worms are done. Which would rather have?

This is my mushroom compost bin experiment to see how well the mushrooms breakdown the carbon material for the worms to eat. I didn't expect this to be so much fun. I will have additional block on site for sale if anyone is interested in playing around with this. I will only have a limited amount each weekend.

The day after Easter our amaryllis popped out all four blossoms. The trick was a tablespoon of mealworm frass on the to of the soil about two weeks ago. 🍃

The extra large BSF larvae are great feeder material for your reptiles, chickens and fish. They can also be added to your black soldier fly compost to become future healthy large black soldier fly pupae and flies, that will lay more than the average soldier flies.

This is how I started my worm business. I picked up daily from the local produce store and fed my worms. I have grown this business to the point that I collect tonnes of produce per week. This produce is from Chuck's produce store on Millplain Blvd n Vancouver. The reason for this post is too get the word out that I am looking for someone who wants to pick up this produce.
