First harvest of our season!
I take the winter “off” from growing veggies to have as much snuggle time with the kids as possible before the next season takes all of my time.
Alder is pretty proud of his bounty, although he really wanted to eat it while it was still caked in soil. (We compromised and I rinsed it in a puddle in the field)

Our prophouse was overflowing with plant starts so we stashed some in our tomato tunnel…we are one week away from the where we will have all the certified organic veggie starts you’ll need to get your garden rockin this spring. Come see us on May 11th in downtown Camas for tomatoes, peppers, basil, lettuces, herbs, eggplant, cucumbers, zucchini, and more.

Just some Alders hangin out in the woods! These beautiful Alder logs have been inoculated with shiitake spawn and stacked in the woods at the farm. We should be seeing mushroom harvests starting next season! Baby Alder holding them down like a champ.

“I love summer” says our 3 year old frequently when eating berries and tomatoes and all the fresh farm bounty.

We’ve been so bad about posting anything to Instagram. Kids and keeping our heads screwed mostly on have been our priority. But then I noticed our last photo is of tarps and rain and sandbags and we just can’t have THAT. So, enjoy looking at this instead, and better yet, come on down to the on Wednesdays from 3-7 to load up and enjoy the simple deliciousness of summer!

Our self serve plant start stand is set up at 1759 NE Garfield St. and ready for you to stop by during any daylight hours!

We still have lots of tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, lettuce, cucumbers, winter squash, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, chard, and herbs.

Spring has sprung and we’ve been getting baby plants in the ground despite the rain and cold. These are two beds of cauliflower…one transplanted into a standard no-till deep compost mulch bed, and the other transplanted into a bed of mature creeping thyme which serves as a permanent, perennial cover plant. We’ll see how they compare!

Hi, I’m Steve, your local organic veggie farmer in Camas. I choose to run my farm organically and without tilling for a few main reasons. Most of all, not tilling helps the soil life thrive and it keeps the soil structure intact. The big bonus is that we don’t have a lot of weeds which means we spend very little time managing them. I try to run the farm as a little ecosystem in itself by growing native flowering plants along side the veggies, keeping the ground mulched and trying to not to disturb the soil as much as possible. We’re certified organic so it goes without saying that chemicals are not part of our system! If you want to nerd out on all things organic no-till feel free to get a hold of me and really get to know your farmer!!

There is a new veggie salesperson coming in town! Alder wants to make sure you are aware that it is CSA week where farmers across the country promote CSA. We will be offering a 22 week season from June-October. Oh hey social media! We’ve been busy over here growing veggies and humans. :) We are super thrilled to announce that baby brother has reached 27 weeks! This is a huge milestone full of relief, as our twin girls were born at 27 weeks a little over 2 years ago. All signs point to a happy, healthy, cabbage-sized baby boy coming around November 10th.

This newly planted section of our field has (from left to right) mini watermelons, two beds of leeks, flowers, head lettuce, arugula, salad mix lettuce, and pole beans.
Interplanting lettuce next to the onions looks magical and let’s the beds produce more with the same amount of space.
