🎃✨October was a truly spooktacular month for 2️⃣0️⃣ HART cats and kittens! We’re thrilled to share that 14 of them went home in pairs—nothing makes us happier than seeing siblings and friends find forever homes together. 🧡
We also celebrated some incredible wins in adult cat adoptions! 🔸 Our long-term residents and October Cats of the Month, Gideon and Knicks, finally found their perfect home. We were committed to keeping these boys together, and we’re overjoyed they’re now happy, loved, and side by side in their new family. 🔸 Our sweet senior “kitizen” Lola also found a home where she’ll be spoiled with all the affection she deserves. 🔸 Fiona, another long-term HART resident, has at last found a quiet cat-free home. Life in the shelter was tough for her, but now she can relax and claim her new person’s lap all for herself. 🔸 Kayla, a loving mama cat, met her special purrson in October. 🔸 Little Allie, who was found stuck in a tight spot, was adopted by her rescuer, so we were unable to get our paws on a photo of her. ✨
🧡 A heartfelt thanks to all the wonderful families who opened their hearts to these deserving felines in October! Enjoy these pics of a few of our new families.

Meet Boone! 😺 Boone is a 6 month old special needs kitten with an adorable black mask and cape, like a little superhero! He’s outgoing, loves attention and affection, and wants to be wherever his people are. He enjoys riding on shoulders, sitting in laps, and has lived with both cats and dogs, making friends with them all.
Unfortunately, Boone came to HART with a traumatic spine and tail injury that made the start of his life very rough. The injury was so severe that part of his tail had to be amputated, and for a while, he couldn't even relieve himself on his own. But thanks to weeks of healing and loving care from his medical team and foster paw-rent, Boone is now able to feel when he needs to "go." He uses his litterbox as often as he gets the urge, though sometimes he gets the feeling too late and may have an accident. His friends at HART hope that with time, he will fully gain control of his litterbox habits. He tries so hard to get things right - even squatting in the box when he doesn’t have to go! 🥰
Boone is looking for a family that will shower him with affection, love him unconditionally, and help him continue to heal and turn the page to a happier chapter of his life.
Please consider FOSTERING or ADOPTING a cat with medical needs. These cats often wait in the shelter the longest. However, the rewards of loving and caring for a cat with Medical Needs usually outweigh the challenges. It's a great feeling knowing you're giving a home to a special needs cat, and truly saving a life. ❤🏠

It’s National Feral Cat Day! 😺
What’s a feral cat? According to alleycat.org “A feral cat is an unsocialized outdoor cat who has either never had any physical contact with humans, or human contact has diminished over enough time that he or she is no longer accustomed to it. Most feral cats are fearful of people, and are not likely to ever become socialized or enjoy living indoors.”
Did you know that HART helps care for Cambria’s community cats? Over the years, HART has done "TNRM" with our local colonies. We have trapped Cambria's feral cats identified in our colonies, and assessed, healed, and neutered or spayed them to keep populations down. Truly feral cats were returned to their colonies, and are currently being Managed. This includes caring for and monitoring feral colonies - supplying food and water, watching for new colony members, and trapping cats that need medical care. Our mission is to reduce feline overpopulation, save innocent lives, and provide the best possible lives for the cats in our community.
Please join us in caring for our community's homeless cats by volunteering to help, or through food or monetary donations.
Phoebe is HART’s office supervisor extraordinaire! At 10 years old, this gorgeous long-haired gray and white tuxie has an eye for detail and a flair for style. Whether she’s filing, typing, or managing important “paw-perwork,” there’s nothing at HART that Phoebe doesn’t have her paws in. Her fashion sense is impeccable, and while she carries herself with a bit of diva flair, she’s also incredibly loving and affectionate, always craving attention.
While HART adores having her as our office supervisor, we know Phoebe is dreaming of a cozy HOME office and a family to adore. Could that be you? If you’re looking for the perfect mix of sass and sweetness, come meet Phoebe at HART today!
✨Meet Mickey! 🎃. Mickey is a handsome ginger and white tabby with striking green eyes, who just celebrated his first birthday. He’s the perfect mix of kitten energy and young adult charm! Playful and full of life, Mickey loves nothing more than batting toys around the floor and engaging in fun games with his favorite humans. He’s always ready for an adventure, and his curiosity keeps him entertained for hours.
But Mickey isn’t just about play—he’s affectionate too, and he enjoys cuddling up for some quality time when the day winds down. This sweet and energetic boy is looking for a forever family that can keep up with his playful spirit and shower him with the love he deserves. If you’re looking for a companion who will bring joy and fun into your home, Mickey is your guy!

Meet Yoongie & Lizzie, two gorgeous gray-coated sisters with stunning green eyes who have been at HART for over 4 months. They arrived as scared little kittens and have been growing up in the shelter, often overlooked because they’re a bit more reserved than some of the other cats. Yoongie and Lizzie aren’t the first to rush to the door to greet visitors, but if you approach them quietly with a gentle hand, they’ll reward you with sweet purrs and affection. These lovely sisters are hoping to find a home together where they can blossom into the wonderful companions they are meant to be. Meet Boo Boo, a beautiful 10-year-old black senior kitizen with warm golden eyes that will melt your heart. Boo Boo is as sweet as they come, with a gentle soul that craves affection. She adores being petted and brushed, and she’ll happily sit by your side, soaking up all the love you have to offer.
Boo Boo is currently in a foster home that is not ideal for her. Her foster mom adores Boo Boo and wishes she could keep her forever, but sadly, the presence of another cat in her household causes Boo Boo a lot of stress. Boo Boo's hearing and eyesight aren’t what they used to be, so a calm, single-pet home is what she truly needs to thrive.
HART is looking for a loving, long-term foster home where Boo Boo can spend her golden years in peace and comfort. All you need to provide is a safe and loving home—HART will cover all of Boo Boo’s medical expenses, if they arise. If you'd like to adopt her and give her a fur-ever home, her adoption fee has generously been paid by her current foster mom. If you can provide a pet-free environment and are ready to shower a senior sweetheart with love, Boo Boo would love to be part of your life! Will you open your heart and home to this gentle girl?

UPDATE: an amazing foster stepped forward for Evie! She even has experience with epileptic cats. we are so thankful and excited for Evie! ❤️
🚨 URGENT APPEAL: Evie Needs a Long-Term Foster HERO🚨
Sweet Evie desperately needs a new HERO. This brave kitten came to HART in May with Epilepsy, suffering from 2 or more seizures a day, each lasting up to 2 minutes. Thanks to the incredible care from HART's Medical Team, her seizures are now under control with medication.
A person with a heart of gold took Evie in as a permanent foster, and Evie has been living happy, stable, and loved in her home. Sadly, her foster mom is now facing health challenges of her own and is heartbroken to no longer be able to care for Evie.
Evie URGENTLY needs a new long-term foster home. She’s a sweet, playful, and loving kitten who requires liquid oral medication twice a day to prevent seizures. HART will cover all of Evie’s medical expenses—you just need to provide the love and care she deserves.
Please share Evie’s story and help us find someone with a heart big enough to give her the stable home she needs. If you or someone you know can offer Evie the loving home she deserves, contact HART at (805) 927-7377 or email [email protected], and we'd be happy to discuss her needs with you. Your kindness can change her life forever. 💜

He helped orchestrate the purchase of HART's current building and was the lead on designing tenant improvements necessary to transform an old single family residence into an animal shelter. As Board treasurer, he continues to pursue and evaluate various approaches that will keep HART on solid financial ground.
Currently, Gary and Susan care for Stuart and Snow, two former HART cats and a standard black poodle named Pal
