Adopt A Senior Pet Month is a wonderful time to consider bringing an older pet into your life. This special month highlights the often-overlooked older animals in shelters who are waiting for loving homes. Senior pets can be perfect companions with their calm demeanor and established habits. They often come house-trained and are past the destructive phases that younger animals might still be going through. One key reason for this celebration is to address the sad reality that senior pets are usually the last to be adopted. These pets end up staying in shelters longer, which puts them at higher risk of euthanasia. By adopting a senior pet, you’re gaining a loving companion and saving a life. These older animals have plenty of love left to give and often need someone to offer them a second chance at happiness. πŸ’šπŸ’™

We had some special visitors from Coast Union High School's Veterinary Science class. They got to learn about veterinary medicine, take a tour and watch a cat spay. It was nice to meet and teach the next generation of animal helpers/healers.

Let's celebrate National Cat Day as a way to raise awareness for cat adoption. Shelters are full of cats with various personalities, ages and color just waiting to find their forever home. Whether they were born in the shelter, surrendered or abandoned, 3.4 million find their way to a shelter. We are so lucky to have Homeless Animal Rescue Team (HART) in our area, along with WOODS and Animal Services. How are you celebrating today? Share a picture of your kitty!!! πŸ’šπŸ’™

Finishing off appreciation week we are highlighting Emily. Emily has been working in the veterinary world for almost 10 years! She started out working as a receptionist but enjoyed patient care so has transitioned to working in the back. Emily enjoys working with all types of animals, especially horses but would love to work with penguins and elephants someday. 🐘🐧 Thank you Emily!

We would also like to give a big shoutout to our wonderful clients for your kind words this week and all the goodies that were brought in. The staff feels very appreciated! πŸ’šπŸ’™

Now we would like to celebrate our other RVT (registered veterinary technician) Brooke! As you can see, Brooke has experience working with all kinds of animals. One animal she would love to work with someday is a Giant Pacific Octopus πŸ™ One of the most interesting cases Brooke assisted on at CVC is a Perineal urethrostomy (PU) surgery. This procedure is a surgery that widens a cat's urethra to help prevent urinary blockages. We are so lucky to have Brooke as a part of our team! Thank you Brooke! πŸ’šπŸ’™

This morning we would like to continue to recognize our amazing staff during vet tech appreciation week with Gabby. Gabby is one of our two registered veterinary technicians and has worked in general practices, emergency clinics and in shelter settings for many years. One of Gabby's favorite parts of the job is patient care. You will see her behind the scenes making sure your pet is well cared for and comfortable. She has had the opportunity to work with various unique animals but her favorite was assisting with a surgery on a porcupine. One animal she would love to work with some day is a giant tortoise 🐒 πŸ’šπŸ’™ Lets give a big thanks to Gabby! πŸ˜€

To continue celebrating our wonderful staff this week we would like to recognize Rebecca. Rebecca is one of our veterinary assistants and has been working with animals since graduating high school almost 11 years ago!! During this time, her most memorable case she assisted with was a sweet dog named Tony. Tony was brought in after a hit and run with multiple injuries including a fractured spine. After months of surgeries and rehab he made a full recovery and was able to walk again. She remembers his family's dedication and relentless courage to never give up on him and Tony's strength to trust humans to heal him. As you can see in the photos, she has had the opportunity to work with all different kinds of animals but it would be a dream come true for her to work with bats and elephants. Please help us thank Rebecca for being such a vital role here at CVC πŸ’™πŸ’š

Today we would like to give a big shout out to one of our longest employees, Hannah! Hannah has been working at CVC for almost 8 years but has worked in the veterinary world for over 10! If you've been a client of CVC you know she does it all! From helping out up front, intakes in rooms, taking radiographs, blood draws, and assisting in dentals and surgical procedures. She is also in charge of our inventory and food orders. Hannah's most memorable times at CVC is riding Clydesdales at Covell's Clydesdales and picking finger limes at Stepladder Creamery. One animal Hannah would love to work with in her future would be a pig 🐷 Help us thank Hannah for all her hard work and dedication here at CVC πŸ’™πŸ’š

This week is National Veterinary Technician appreciation week! Vet techs and vet assistants are quite literally 'jack of all trades'. These are the faces you see in the exam rooms and working hard behind the scenes. They are laboratory technicians, radiology technicians, surgery technicians, phlebotomists, pharmacy technicians, dental hygienists, patient care advocates, client educators and so much more! And aside from these more glamorous job duties, they are often getting down and dirty cleaning up after our sick patients and our busy doctors. They comfort your pet while they are scared, treating them as if they were their own! Stay tuned to learn more about Gabby, Brooke, Hannah, Rebecca and Emily πŸ’šπŸ’™
