We are rejoicing at Twelve 24 ranch today. Rip’s ankle is completely healed and he has a clean bill of health! The rest, calcium supplement, and prayers for him this winter did their job! ❤️He needs some specific trimming on that hoof but he’s young enough it shouldn’t be a problem to get it growing correct. I should be able to start him easy as a two year old and go from there. Can’t wait to see where this horse goes! I freaking love his personality!

It was absolutely too hard to narrow down what photos to share of the branding photoshoot for Twelve 24 Ranch we did in February. Anna C's Photography did an incredible job capturing the essence of the ranch! Her ideas, input, and the incredible shots she captured still just blows me away! I'm SO thrilled with the results and look forward to using these photos for our website and other aspects of our ranch branding as we continue to grow! ❤️

Feet day at the ranch today. A rancher’s work is never done. If I’m not riding them I’m catching them and bringing them up for the farrier! 🙃 Sam and Casey do such a good job with our herd, they are especially patient with the young ones. Two of the weanlings thought their world was ending while the third one stood like she’d been doing this all her life. Bob, Roscoe, Rodney, and Kid are all old pros at this point! So thankful that Rodney being tender on his fronts has cleared all the way up. It’s so great to see him feeling better! 🤗🤗

Stair steps. . . this picture so perfectly depicts the stage I feel our ranch is in. Finding who we are, solidifying our program, step by step settling into the vision and calling God keeps revealing. There are plenty of days that the process is hard and ugly. There’s an equal amount of days that it is exciting and beautiful. I hold onto those days in the hard and ugly and keep remembering the whispers of things to come God has spoken to my heart! ❤️ I can’t wait to see what He has dreamed up for this ranch, because I know it’s better than my wildest imaginations!

Day 1 of Jeremy Knoles reined cow horse clinic. To say I’m hooked is an understatement. Kid and I got to take a cow down the fence and circle it for the first time and it was more exhilarating and awesome than I ever could have imagined! Can’t wait to see where my journey with reined cow horse takes me! So grateful for what a phenomenal teacher Jeremy is! 10/10 would recommend attending a clinic he puts on!

Cash and Bob meeting for the first time! What you can’t hear in the picture is their squeals as they try to decide whether they like each other or not. 😂😂 I love how complex and majestic horses are! These pictures are stunning! Thank you to Anna C's Photography for capturing them!

Baby Rip had to go to the vet today. Krayton and I had noticed that he was slightly favoring his right hind foot and that the joint seemed to be clicking in and out abnormally. It turns out that his bone density in between his ankle and fetlock is not as dense as it should be and he has a slight fracture. He also has what is called lipping of the growth plates where they overlap his ankle in a way they are not supposed to. He should grow out of this. For the bone density issue and the fracture we will put him on a calcium supplement for 3 months and hopefully see big improvements after that. The vet is very hopeful that he will have zero long term effects from this and grow out of it. I’m learning lots every day right now! I couldn’t be more proud of Rip. He is the sweetest and smartest little c**t. He hopped on the trailer with zero hesitation this morning. He took everything in stride at the vet and was so willing to respond to all that was asked of him. Prayers for complete healing, because he sure is one of a kind! ❤️

We can only dream, pray, and imagine what God has in store for the ranch in 2023. In 2022 we faced some hard days, we trudged through some growing pains, we felt the sorrow of a goodbye, we learned, we became stronger because of what we walked through. We remembered why the ranch is named Twelve 24 Ranch.

“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.”
‭‭John‬ ‭12‬:‭24‬ ‭

Truly some dreams for the ranch hit the ground and died in 2022 and because of that new dreams, new life, new direction, new vision burst forth from the place they died! 🌱🌞 The fruit they will bear remains to be seen — I know it will be worth it and better than we imagined.

Thank you to each one of you for walking with us on this broken and beautiful journey. Your love, support, and prayers in the past five months have brought us such joy and encouragement. We can’t wait to see what God does in 2023 and we look forward to sharing it with you as the year unfolds!

The hardest part about loving animals and ranching is saying goodbye. 😢 Yesterday Krayton and I came home to find that Jean had died while we were gone to church. We have no explanation for what happened. She had been acting normal as of that morning and her cuts were healing well. She was going to get her stitches out today. We are grateful for the memories made with Jean even though they were far to short lived! We know God has given us everything we have, and we choose to trust His plan even though we don’t understand when He takes away. Jean was a fighter and it surprises me that she didn’t pull through. We gave her a nice view in her burial spot on a hill behind the ranch. “Run Jeanie run, with the heart of a rebel child. Run Jeanie run, be just as free as you were wild.” ❤️

We had a great time visiting Cedar Creek Ranch today and meeting Kruger’s sire (first two pictures). He is absolutely something to behold! 😍 Of course we just couldn’t leave without saying yes to another phenomenal horse from this ranch! Haha, just kidding! Picking up Judy was planned and she also carries a lot of her handsome sire’s traits! We haven’t decided if we are keeping Judy’s name yet but we already love this stunning mare that will be part of our broodmare program. 🤗😍 Last but not least we picked up baby Rip from our friends in Leigh, NE. He is a registered quarter horse c**t that I hope to take in the direction of being a cutting horse someday. Also, Dally says she is happy to have dad home! 😂🥰 Welcome to the ranch Judy and Rip.

What have we been up to at the ranch? Why have our social media platforms been so quiet? Well, I’ll tell you. Grandpa and Grandma Holtze and I were busy road tripping to Waverly, Iowa for the Waverly Midwest Horse Sale. Our efforts were well rewarded! We came home with a matched set of registered Percheron fillies and a gorgeous blue roan filly from Cedar Creek Ranch. We would do business with Cedar Creek Ranch again in a heartbeat! They produce phenomenal horses! We couldn’t be happier with all three fillies! We’re excited to watch them grow. Our matched pair Jean and Joy will be a future team as well as broodmares. Our blue roan filly Kruger will also be a broodmare. Welcome to Twelve 24 Ranch girls!! 🐴🐴🐴🎉

It has been the BEST 10 days at the ranch!!! I cannot say enough how thoroughly I enjoyed Anna’s help and friendship the past 10 days! I watched her and the horses grow together. To say she is talented, quick to catch on, compassionate towards the horses, and gifted doesn’t say enough! We are already looking forward to her next visit to the ranch and many more adventures! ❤️🥰

What a beautiful day on the ranch today! We finally got a little cooler weather and some clouds! Pops participated in day two of leading training — we brought out the big guns with Big Bob today and though he still fought hard he eventually gave in and started following Big Bob willingly. Roscoe started working on some two rein pressure and collection today. Anna is also working on the beginning of the lay down with Roscoe. Sniper got to learn about tarps and how to handle someone laying across his back. It was a full day filled with progress and fun memories made!

Blessed with another wonderful day on the ranch! Anna got to help out on a round pen session with Sniper this morning. Pops learned some hard life lessons on not pulling back when leading. Kid was a champ hauling Pops around. Anna and I made a quick trip over to North Platte to ride with Alesa Barner with Barner Quarter Horses. Thanks to Anna for all your help making this hectic day on the ranch run smoothly! We love having you here!

Awesome day on the ranch! Rodney had to take a trip to Doc Pieper to get his teeth floated and a bit seat put in in preparation for riding lessons. He was very, very sleepy afterwards due to the sedation, so Anna kindly held him for a while and then we were able to get him to hop on the trailer. Both Pops and Sniper were much improved in their sessions today. We ended the day in the round pen with Big Bob working more on slowing down his speed.

First day of groundwork with the babies. Sniper is the more sensitive of the two and willing to give to pressure. Pops makes me work for it and really likes to push on me! It will be fun to see how both these handsome boys progress.

Happy Labor Day!! All sorts of stuff going on at the ranch today! It’s feet day and two new 1.5 year olds got dropped off for a month or so of groundwork. I will get them saddled and round penning before letting them set for the winter to be started in the spring. Welcome to our cute as a button red roan Pops and our handsome paint Sniper. 😍🥰

Just a little update on the horses at Twelve 24. Both the boys have been back to the round pen recently. Roscoe for some additional desensitizing and Big Bob for some disengaging the hindquarters work and slowing down a fast lope. Both boys are doing their best to learn and grow and we are thankful to get the chance to work with these horses! 💕
