LOVE. THIS.

I would require N95 or better respirators. Cats can be infected by SARSCoV2. I always wear an N95 in Shared Air for my cats and dogs and other animals. They are protected from H5N1, too. Our climate is changing. More heat means more viruses and bacteria and fungus in the environment. Our indoor felines are exposed if we don’t remove our shoes at the door; if we don’t shower immediately and put on clean clothes; if we don’t filter the air we breathe*. This isn’t NEW information. We’ve known about zoonotic disease for decades now, especially if you are managing a kennel. UVC germicidal light is standard equipment. HVAC is imperative. Correct cleaning. Ventilation. All standard animal care.

I understand most people don’t want to behave as if they work/live inside a kennel. 😄 It was ok-ish before. I brought home ringworm, fleas, sarcoptic mange, URI (kennel cough; dog flu) when I worked at a kennel. My sloppiness at home. When the Health Dept came in and tested facility, my kennel run was the only enclosure without parasites and viruses. They swab the floor, water drains. To prevent infection, clean throughly and sanitize to kill bacteria and viruses and fungi. I protected my babies.

Please protect your own babies. Wash your hands after handling any animal. Wear a respirator when in Shared Air. Remove shoes at front door. Small changes that will protect you and your pets.

Check out The Junkyard Catz page. We helped TNR this huge colony and still support them. Our volunteer, Michelle, feeds them daily and trapped 4 month old Lil Grayson who should be adoptable in about a week.
