We train dogs to tolerate petting from strangers to reduce the risk of a dog hurting or biting someone. But that doesn't mean that receiving pets from strangers is good for your dog. When someone asks to pet your dog, you can always say "Not Today."

When strangers touch our dogs without consent, it can be unsettling for them—much like an unexpected touch feels to us. Dogs deserve respect and agency over their bodies. Politely guiding others to wait for the dog’s signals, like approaching willingly or leaning in, helps ensure interactions are safe and comfortable.

😍Basic Obedience class is back, starting January 8!

This 6-week class prepares dogs for the AKC Canine Good Citizen title, with skills such as walk politely on-leash, sit, down, stay, come.

Basic Obedience class is for dogs who are able to eat treats and be attentive when they are ~10 feet away from unfamiliar dogs. Instructor approval required for puppies 5 months to 12 months old. Register here: https://dogsrplus.square.site/product/basic-obedience/14
