She might not be a Shar Pei or even a mix, but one of our members just had to save her! (More pics and videos in comments)
Flora is a remarkable dog who has captured our hearts. Rescued from a long list of dogs set to be euthanasia in Maryland, in a county where her breed is banned. She brings a story of resilience and love. Despite her challenging past, Flora is a shining example of love and resilience.
Her affectionate nature is evident from the moment you meet her. She thrives on human companionship, seeking out cuddles and giving kisses that might knock you down. She loves snuggling up on the couch, destroying any dog toy she has access to or going on a stroll down the street.
Flora is not just loving; she’s also well-mannered. She is both house and crate trained, making her an ideal companion for families or individuals looking for a loyal pet that fits seamlessly into their home. She can sit, shake and lay down on command and she’s great on a leash.
She’s ready to share her love and joy with a forever family, making every day a little brighter with her presence.

This one is harder. Name this alumnus!!
Kimchi is a cream horsecoat girl.
She is a 3-year-old Shar-Pei that was found as a stray. She is currently looking for a calm, patient home. She’s a little shy and still adjusting to her environment, so she may take some time to warm up. Kimchi is cautious with new people and prefers slow introductions, but once she trusts you, she’s a loving companion. She knows “sit” and is good on lead. Kimchi isn’t currently interested in toys and isn’t playful yet, as she’s still finding her confidence. She would do best with an experienced owner who can help her feel safe and secure.
Thank you to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter for taking care of this girl! And thank you to the volunteers who posted her!
Cookie who we saved with Blossom in her forever home with her sister and older brother!!
These are temporary to see if they help. The Ortho definitely feels like braces will allow her to live like a normal dog. There is definitely no connection between the wrist bones and the rest of her leg. We go back in 2 weeks for a check up and to see how she has done. These are kinda awkward and chunky but as a test they work fine. Donations welcome for her ongoing care!
