Working with Rudolph (Rudi) just in time for Christmas! 🎄🦌
Rudi tends to be reactive towards other dogs/ animals on TV and while on leash. So we have been working on our heel and walking past/ up to new dogs (who are both stationary and moving targets). This was a video of one of our training sessions yesterday using Iris (who he had never met before as a stationary dog) for a distraction. He did super awesome, and never barked or lunged the whole session!!! Super proud of you Rudi
This is Guinness, a happy go lucky super sweet golden except for when it came to his food. Like many dogs he struggled with resource guarding on his food and with bones.
Resource guarding is an all too common behavior problem that I see people sweep under the rug or "manage," saying it's not a problem, until one day someone gets bit or worse multiple bites. Then all of a sudden it's finally a problem! Sadly, in most of these cases when the owners finally reach out they are in a panic and say to me, "we either fix it or re-home the dog." This isn't always the case, but I see it happen that way a lot. (Guinness' case was different the owners were dedicated to fixing the problem and had been trying multiple methods and things at home to fix the problem, but it continued to get worse so they reached out for help)
I'm using Guinness' case as a platform to say that resource guarding (or possessive aggression) is nothing to be embarrassed about. It is actually an instinctual dog behavior and would be a valuable behavior for a feral dog's survival. But with that being said, it can also be worked on and corrected with some time and dedication. So why not fix the problem before it gets worse and you have a "real problem," because the problem is not going to fix itself.

Sniper is here for a board and train and he has been working really hard on not barking/ lunging at people we see on walks and out in public. He has made tremendous strides and today I put him to the ultimate test going to Walmart and walking around the parking lot - where there were lots of cars, people, and shopping carts moving around us. He was able to walk nicely in a heel and didn't bark at anyone! Here is a short clip! Great job buddy!!!

Here is a fun one! I had the opportunity to work with 2 of the Mini Aussie pups we bred here both at the same time, but from different families. It was super cool to see them all grown up and fun to see the traits they had from both their parents.
This was just shy of a week in training so mostly working on sit, down, body positioning, and the start of our stay
