Northern Arizona Service Dogs

Northern Arizona Service Dogs Dexter Morin mentored an exuberant young trainer while he was still in high school. From our family to yours, thank you for helping us make a difference.

At Northern AZ Service Dogs, we are dedicated to providing service dogs for people who can benefit from an expertly trained, certified, reliable and just all around amazing canine helpers. This mentorship was meaningful and lasting as it created a dog trainer that trained working dogs for many governmental agencies across the U.S. In 2017 with over 30 years of training experience, Shawn Tucker, en

visioned using his expertise in an area that presented the greatest need. His vision was to train exceptional service dogs for those needing them to gain their self esteem, inner strength and independence. As a firefighter he valued the search and rescue dogs he worked with and the contribution they made to his crew but he knew that his service dogs needed to be more. They needed to possess the qualities of the most efficient and experienced nurse. They needed to be loyal, attentive and completely in tune with only one person. They needed to be energetic, supportive, logical, smart and sensitive to every little change in that one person. They needed to provide strength, constant and consistent care with the ability to enrich the lives of others. But just as important as the rest, they needed to be loving and kind, soft spoken, patient and understanding- a best friend. Training a service dog to be these things was a challenge he gratefully accepted. It would be intense and time consuming but he knew if he could help change just one life-it would be worth it. With courage and passion we strive daily to make a difference in a life by giving to others the tools they need to be all they envision they can be. Northern AZ Service dogs invites you to become an active part of our family through sponsorship, awareness , education and community involvement in any way that you can. Please contact us if you have any questions on how our program works, how to obtain a service dog or if you simply want to chat! It is only through your support that we are able to make dreams come true, one dog at a time.

Hey everyone! Memorial Day weekend is here and I know many of us are excited to hit the road with our furry friends. But before you pack up and head out, here are some safety tips to keep in mind when traveling with your dog:

1. Buckle up: Just like us, dogs should be secured in the car with a seatbelt or harness. This will keep them safe in case of an accident and prevent them from distracting the driver.

2. Hydrate: Make sure to bring plenty of water for your dog, especially if you're traveling to a warmer climate. Dehydration can be dangerous for dogs, so keep them hydrated throughout the trip.

3. Rest stops: Take frequent breaks to allow your dog to stretch their legs and relieve themselves. This will also help prevent motion sickness and anxiety.

4. ID tags: Make sure your dog is wearing an ID tag with your contact information in case they get lost. Microchipping is also a great option for added security.

5. Pet-friendly accommodations: If you're staying overnight, make sure to book pet-friendly accommodations in advance. This will ensure a comfortable and safe stay for both you and your furry friend.

Remember, traveling with your dog can be a fun and rewarding experience, but safety should always come first. Have a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! πŸΎπŸš—πŸ’¦

Today, I want to talk about what a true PTSD dog does. PTSD stands for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which is a mental health condition that can develop after experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. PTSD dogs are specially trained to assist individuals who suffer from this condition.

A true PTSD dog is not a pet, but a highly trained service animal that provides a service support and helps their handler manage their symptoms. These dogs are trained to recognize signs of distress and provide comfort to their handler. They can also perform tasks such as waking their handler from nightmares, creating a physical barrier between their handler and others in crowded spaces, and alerting their handler to potential triggers.

It's important to note that not all dogs can be trained to be PTSD dogs. It takes a lot of time, effort, and specialized training to become a certified PTSD service dog. These dogs are trained to be calm, obedient, and responsive to their handler's needs.

In conclusion, PTSD dogs are an invaluable resource for individuals who suffer from PTSD. They provide emotional support, help manage symptoms, and improve their handler's quality of life. If you or someone you know is struggling with PTSD, consider me, I can get you certified PTSD service dog.
