Say hi to Penny! Penny was here for her first ever vet appointment. 🥹👏

Dr. Rivera made sure to give Penny lots of love and cuddles, and she also helped Penny’s paw-rent create a puppy vaccine schedule for these next few months. 💉💪

And of course, Penny did very well as she got 3 vaccine injections, oral dewormer, and a nail trim, all as a part of our puppy package. We can’t wait to watch her grow as she comes back for her boosters! 🤗

Meet Officer Valichko and his K9, Rohen! Rohen is one of our favorite patients, and he’s got quite the beautiful history. 👮‍♂️🚓 🐕‍🦺

K9 Rohen is a 2-year-old Dutch Shepherd who is trained in apprehension and detection of fi****ms & explosives. K9 Rohen, who graduated from Patrol school in 2023, bears the name of an incredible hero, Rohen Clark.

Rohen Clark was a 10-year-old from Michigan, who dreamed of being a K9 handler. He saved over 20 lives through organ donation, including a member of the Campbell Police Department family. To honor Rohen Clark’s legacy, K9 Rohen was gifted with his name, and now works hard as an amazing member of Campbell PD. 🦸‍♀️

Officer Valichko’s favorite thing about K9 Rohen is how, although he is a 70-lb full-grown dog, he still acts like a lap dog! K9 Rohen is a very social and sweet boy; we are always happy to see him for his routine appointments! 🩺👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

This is Gatsby, a 4-month-old Corgi puppy. He recently beat parvo, with the help of the Parvovirus Monoclonal Antibody (detailed in last post) medication, as well as our dedicated staff members Dr. Johnson, Tiffany, and Leah. This slideshow details his journey on beating parvo! 💪💉🦠

Earlier this week, Dr. Johnson, our Medical Director, and Lindsey, our Registered Veterinary Technician, took a trip to Las Vegas for the 97th Annual Western Veterinary Conference (WVC)!

WVC is one of the longest-running and largest veterinary conferences in the entire country. It offers a multitude of continuing education (CE) opportunities for veterinary professionals; Dr. Johnson and Lindsey both had the opportunity to attend various courses to further their vet education and stay current with knowledge in the field. The conference also includes hands-on labs, workshops, lectures, and exhibitors. Dr. Johnson and Lindsey also got to attend a Covetrus dinner at Din Tai Fung (slide 3)!

At our hospital, we pride ourselves on staying on-top of educational opportunities, and we are so proud of our Reed Animal Hospital crew for continuing to further their education and learn as much as they can about the field they love!

Happy February! February is National Pet Dental Health Month, a month where we highlight the importance of dental care for pets and raise awareness to encourage all pet owners to take the proper steps to maintain their furry family members’ oral health! 🦷🪥😁

We cannot get over how cool Lomi looked for his appointment! His orange mohawk is the best thing we’ve seen all week! 😍😻🤩

Lomi did awesome for his vaccines and heartworm test; we love when pet parents stay on top of routine treatments and diagnostics for their furry family members. Vet Assistant Tiffany made sure to give Lomi some extra special love while we waited for his in-house heartworm test results. 💉🩺

For this week, we will be closing EARLY on December 31st, New Year’s Eve (this Tuesday), with open business hours from 8am to 12pm. We will be CLOSED all day on New Year’s Day, January 1st. Business hours will be back to normal on Thursday, Jan 2nd; we will be open from 8am to 6pm.

Is your canine protected against Leptospirosis?🦠😷

Leptospirosis, caused by Leptospira bacteria, can cause severe liver and/or kidney disease, can affect various animals (including people!), and can even be fatal!

“Dogs are usually exposed through contact with infected urine or contaminated water or objects” (AAHA.org). Since the disease is spread by wildlife, such as rats, racoons, opossums, and mice, any dog who goes outside, whether on a hike or just in the backyard, is at risk of being exposed. 🦨🦡🐀

Vaccination is highly effective against the main, most common types of leptospirosis. While historically, leptospirosis was considered a non-core vaccine, the AAHA Canine Vaccination Guidelines recently were updated to change the vaccine to core status! 💉💪
