Registration opens April 1st!

Wondering what to expect during the complimentary screening eye exam for your qualified Service or Working Animal? Our veterinary ophthalmologist will examine the eyes to determine if there are any abnormalities. The aim is to identify problems early. Some abnormalities might need to be treated to prevent or delay progression. Other sight-threatening problems such as retinal disease, cataracts or glaucoma can be identified. The exam requires no sedation, requires minimal restraint, is non-painful, non-stressful and usually takes 10-25 minutes.

Registration opens April 1st! buff.ly/fKfM61m

Exciting news for Veterinary Ophthalmology in Northern California! Patients now have the option of choosing UC Davis for retinal reattachment surgery, providing a convenient alternative to traveling to Southern California.

Retinal reattachment surgery is available for the first time at UC Davis. Thanks to a new surgical microscope, we are now the first veterinary school in the nation with the ability to perform this highly specialized surgery and teach it in our ophthalmology residency. Tashi, a 7-year-old Shih Tzu, was one of our first patients and had her vision restored. https://www.vetmed.ucdavis.edu/news/specialized-eye-surgery-restores-dogs-vision

Morpheus came in to see us because he was having some discharge from both eyes. This is due to changes to his eyelid conformation which is normal for his breed. So far Morpheus is doing well on eye drop therapy but he may benefit from cryotherapy treatment in the future.

Sweet Prince is hoping some sunshine and park time can help heal his indolent ulcer. Sometimes in older pups, especially those with corneal degeneration, these things take more time. Keep on trekking Prince.
