WOW!!! Over 20 volunteers came out to dig in and complete the needed work at the CTY U state training grounds in the Kettle Moraine Northern Unit! That’s impressive! Equally amazing is some wonderful folks brought tractors with grabbels and brush hog!
Also had some wonderful food served up hot! Thanks to Ann Jakel and Peggy Stormoen for the food!
Thanks to everyone for making it a success!!
This property is a special one, with a ton of potential!

Seems we made the right decision to cancel this event last week due to weather.

ATTENTION VOLUNTERERS FOR THE CTY U TRAINING GROUNDS…..
The work day we had scheduled at the state training grounds at CTY U for this Saturday has been changed to the alternate day we had scheduled of Sunday February 23 at 9 am this decision was made because of the weather forecast of heavy snow followed by cold temps and high winds.
If you were signed up, you should have gotten an email as well.
We hope you can join us in the 23rd!!

NAVHDA has introduced a new “Gun Dog” test effective February 1, 2025. This replaces the UPT test we have always had. Check it out!

At the 2025 NAVHDA International Meeting, Director of Judge Development, Mark Whalen, introduced the new Gun Dog Test (GDT), replacing the UPT.

The GDT criteria are posted on the NAVDHA website, new score cards are being printed and the changes are effective 1 Feb 2025.

Summary of changes (UPT to GDT)
• Duck Search removed
• Decoys added at water
• Clarifying language for retrieves

Judges should reach out to the J&T committee or the central office with questions.

What a great turn out for the work day at the state dog training grounds in the Kettle Moraine Northern unit!! Thanks to all who came out to help! We removed quite a bit of brush and trees in preparation for the burn in spring.
It is a great property with great potential

Dear KM members,
Norm Hammerer, who is one of our Board Members, has been diligently working with the Wisconsin DNR to facilitate upkeep of the state dog training grounds at CTY highway U in Sheboygan County,
Upkeep and maintenance of this dog training site is extremely important to our group, as we use it for training, and our chapter training days as well but we also hold our tests there.

That said we are holding a work day at 9:00 am on January 11, 2025, with an alternate date of January 18, in the event of inclement weather. The work to be done is fairly light work, trimming branches and staging those trimmings in piles to be burned in spring.

A State of Wisconsin Volunteer Agreement for the workday will need to be completed for every individual that can make the workday.
I'm not able to attach the Volunteer Agreement form (PDF) to this post , but we have it with the Dates/Site location already filled out, so all we need is your name and contact information filled in! If you send Norm an email to the address above he will see that you get it.

As of Friday there are no more pigeons at the grounds, there are still plenty of chukar and quail! We will not be getting more pigeons this year.

It's a beautiful day here at Sheboygan Falls Conservation Club, come on out with your kids and family and get ready for the bird hunting season with us! Kids 17 and under shoot free, and their shells are covered! Otherwise adults are $6 a round, bring your own shells.

Trap/Skeet shooting this Saturday at the Sheboygan Falls Conservation Club! Shooting to take place from 10-2. Price per round is $6.00 cash only! Hope to see you there! Let's finish off the season with some shooting so the training doesn't go to waste for the hunting season!

Last test of the season here at Kettle Moraine NAVHDA!!
As per usual we got to see some fantastic dogs showing their stuff!
Thank you so much to the judges and apprentice judges who came out to judge. Thank you to the handlers who came out to test!
And of course MANY MANY thanks to all who volunteered to make it all possible.
And Last but not Least, thank you Brianne Miller, for having everyone and everything so well organized!

The decision has been made to cancel our youth "Learn to Hunt" event on August 24th due to lack of participant sign up. We have decided to host our end of the training season trap shoot that day for those that can make it. The chapter has decided to cover the cost of any youth that comes out to shoot.

We look forward to seeing those that can make it out.

Please keep an eye out for next years event, we hope to bring it back as it means a lot to our chapter board members. So keep your kids, grandkids, nephews, nieces in mind for next years "Learn to Hunt".
