Our residents include dogs, cats, and small animals. Our jurisdictions include all of Ontario County, New York. Our services include adoption, low cost spay and neuter, animal control, rabies prevention, cruelty investigations, and education.

Join us in bringing some Holiday Cheer to our furry friends in care at Ontario County Humane Society, Happy Tails Animal Shelter We are collecting pet toys and pet items to bring some smiles to dogs and cats awaiting their forever homes! Boots has been adopted! 2 of our WONDERFUL volunteers fell in love with our beautiful boy and gave him a family!

His new mom and dad love him so much! He’s made himself right at home and he’s so affectionate! When he’s not bouncing off the walls, he’s cuddling and being a big mush!

He has new kitty siblings and a foster pup to play with, he’s loving every second 😊

Mom says he’s perfect! He’s a big baby and a clinger … they couldn’t be happier and it looks like Boots feels the same 🥰

Congratulations Boots! We miss your sassy, independent spirit (that we now know was all for show 🥰), your playful at times mischievous nature and your beautiful, soft fur!

Oliver has been adopted! One of our AMAZING volunteers fell in love with our stunning boy and who could blame her! 🥰

Oliver’s new family says he is doing wonderful and they absolutely love him! He’s adjusting well to his new home and family.

He loves going for walks with mom and playing ball in the yard. As suspected he is a big cuddle bug and an even bigger mama’s boy 😍

He had his first puppy play date and he was so happy running around with his new friend, his smile and entire body radiated with pure joy!

His new mom says he is very special, getting to see him smile and do things that he has never done before is something she will always remember and hold close to her heart ❤️

Congratulations Oliver! We miss that sweet pink face, your bright eyes that seem to take in everything, your quiet nature and the way you lean into your people when you need reassurance. We even miss that high pitched squeak when you get excited 😉

Enjoy your new family precious Oliver! Your story is just beginning and we can’t wait for the next chapter!

Buddy has been adopted! Our gentle giant has found his family and happily ever after! 🥰

Buddy’s mom said he is doing awesome and has the most beautiful heart and soul! He is adjusting well to his new home and family.

Buddy has 10 acres to explore with his new doggie brother (Tucker), and he’s enjoying every minute of it!

When he’s not hanging out with Tucker he loves sitting on the couch in front of the wood stove, hanging out by the campfire and howling on the porch with mom 🥰

When his family has to go out, he happily waits for them by the door wagging his tail in greeting!

He spends his nights alternating between his bed and sleeping with mom and dad 😴

Mom says is very special and very smart. He learned the electric fence in no time and when he needs something he lets mom know with a gentle paw ❤️

Buddy and Tucker are 2 very spoiled pups (as they should be)!
Bones to chew, toys to play with, eggs for breakfast and hot dogs as a special treat! I hear Buddy LOVES cheese and Greek yogurt 😉

Seeing Buddy truly enjoy life is all his new family could have ever hoped for!

Congratulations Buddy! We miss your innocent joy, your goofy nature and your kind heart that brought a smile to everyones face! Our sweet old boy with the heart of a puppy, life has thrown you some curveballs but you never let it get you down! Your eternal optimism and pure soul radiate from every part of you!

We are helping a family find homes for six month old Labrador puppies. They are pure bred but they are not AKC Registered.

They are crate trained and all puppy!! Continued and constant training will be needed

Labs make great family pets, but they need their exercise. Walks, playing ball, swimming all they love all things outside .

Dug has been adopted! After more than a year and a half of waiting, our HANDSOME boy has found his family!

Dug’s new mom says he’s the best boy and they absolutely ADORE him! He has made himself right at home and is the perfect addition to the family. He's loving life with his 3 human siblings who adore him and 2 kitty siblings who are tolerating him 😉

During the day, you can find him working with his mom in her office, watching for the school bus, waiting for a handout in the kitchen, or out walking to explore his new neighborhood. At night, you'll find him snuggled up on a big bean bag chair watching tv with his dad 🥰

Dug’s family says he is such a sweet boy and craves human touch. He loves belly rubs and will lay his head on your lap to be scratched. Even with all his puppy energy, he calms down enough to get the extra loving he so desperately wants and deserves❤️

A special note from Dug’s family: Dug's personality and love of humans is a true testament of the love and care he got while at Happy Tails. Thanks to all for everything you do there to support these animals!

Congratulations sweet Dug! We miss your enduring spirit, your kind, soulful brown eyes that never gave up hope, your excitement for every meeting and your simple pleasure in every walk (with your favorite squeaker toy along for the ride). Tonight Board President, Kurt Koczent, addressed more 50 volunteers and staff members at the annual volunteer appreciation dinner held in Canadaigua. Time is one of our most valuable assets and the amount of people who spend their time helping the animals and the shelter cannot and should never go un noticed. Special thanks went out to the following in additional to all that attended: Krystal Wentz for all the amazing adoption write ups shared here in FB and IG. Jeannne Kaminsky - Our Volunteer Coordinator Kathy Perry-Ernisses who keeps us all organized and on track Susan Cunningham for the amount hours assisting on the fundraising committee. Tim and Barb Kesel for all of their time and effort spent on the spaghetti dinner and pancake breakfast. Phelps American Legion for the repeated use of their space for multiple fundraising events. Mike and the entire Valcom Family for the amazing OCHS shirts and merchandise. Heavy Kevies for catering tonight's dinner (it was soooo good!) Ontario County Fair Board for the use of the Carriage House tonight for the event. And Lastly, everyone who has helped in some way in 2024. We cannot do it alone. (More pictures of the event to come tomorrow)

Shelter Cat Bates has many jobs at Happy Tails Animal Shelter. From supervising the office and cat room to greeting guests, Bates does it all! One job he excels at is looking after the youngsters. Shelter Cat Bates make sure all the young cats and kittens are clean & tidy, helps them play politely and learn their manners, and shows them the love and affection they may have missed out on. Summertime is here (almost)! ☀️ With high temperatures looming, it's important to know how to keep our pets safe in the summertime. Hot cars pose a big risk to pets and the danger is preventable. Let's revisit this short video where Happy Tails staff find out just how hot it gets inside a car in the summertime and how quickly "a short trip" becomes deadly. 🔥
