We have had a lot of people reach out for an update.
We are still working hard to get reopened. I just want to remind everyone this flood was much worse and caused more damage then the last one.
We unable to hold nail days to help raise money to rebuild due to two staff members unable to work at this time and no access to equipment.
We also just purchased the building and land back in June of this year and one groomer sliped and broke her shoulder in August.
We have had amazing people donate their time and energy to help us out and we are working with their time and availability.
Luckily we did receive a grant to help with some of the cost just after Christmas and we are having to figure out the best and most helpful place to use it as it can only be used on certain things.
We are also working on trying to get an SBA loan but that has been difficult with all the loops and hoops they want you to jump through with us being in a major flood zone. No we cannot move the business and open some places else as that would be much more expensive.
We were denied any FEMA help again this time.
We are hoping to be open by March at this time but things can change and a lot can happen.
As of right now we have the studs and walls up the plumbing is done and we should be finishing up the electrical this week. All electrical had to be ripped out and replaced with upgraded wiring and electrical box to pass inspection.
We had to custom order doors and windows as they was severely damaged and will not pass code. As with most things you custom order they take a while to come in and should be in next week fingers crossed.
Once our plumbing and electrical and doors and windows pass a rough in inspection the rest is lined up to be started.
We do suggest using other groomers at this time to keep your dog’s hair from matting and causing skin and other issues.
This has been a long process for everyone involved but we have to do things right or we risk being told we cannot open at all.

Just an update we are at a standstill with the electrical work until we can get a heat and air system put in so we know where to run the electrical to. We are installing better heat and air as the ac we used in the past struggled to keep up. With the holidays being here and had some sickness it has slowed everything down a little bit. Once we get the heat and air in we can wrap up on the electrical and should be able to finish up fairly quickly long as no other obstacles come our way. We are very grateful for everyone that has volunteered and donated time and money. We will be opening up just as soon as we can. As for the health and comfort of all our fur babies we do recommend using other groomers in the area for their needs, we don’t want the dogs to suffer with mating and skin problems from not being groomed.

One of the local groomers is doing nail clipping at Candler Feed and Seed today. If your dog is in need of nails this would be a great chance to get them done and support a good cause.

*SCAM ALERT*
It has been brought to our attention that a client of ours got a text saying that we are back and their dog has an appointment. We are NOT OPEN!!! We will not be open for probably another month. We are working with the county and licensed professionals to make sure we are checking all the boxes. We will never text about appointments. When we have an open date we will post it and start reaching out by phone personally. If you have any questions please feel free to reach out though Facebook we don’t have a phone system as our power is still cut off as we have not passed inspection to receive power.

We have had a lot of people reach out about a possible nail day and when we will be opening.

For the nail day we will not be able to have one this time as Michelle made the smart move to pack up all the equipment in to her horse trailer the Wednesday before the flood. The horse trailer has everything in it and very packed. We can not unpack it until we have a place to put everything. That means the building needs to be ready.

Opening day, we unfortunately do not have an estimated opening day right now. For the county to let us rebuild and reopen we have to pass multiple inspections and make a few upgrades to the building. With the property in a flood zone no new buildings will ever be able to be constructed on the land so we have to work with what we have. In order to pass all their inspections we must have licensed professional do the work and sign off on it. We are working with a contractor, electrician, plumber, and roofer. As you can imagine they all have very busy schedules due to the high demand for them right now.

It took about two months to get rebuild with the last flood and we are just now about a month after this time. We understand that your babies need hair cut and nail trims and that you may need to take them somewhere else for the time being. We will keep all up dates posted and be reaching out to clients as soon as we know anything about when we will open.

Nondrinkable water has found its way to downtown Asheville.

Below is a press release from :

The North Fork water treatment plant in Black Mountain continues to feed highly chlorinated water into the City of Asheville’s water distribution system.

Water service has begun to return to areas west of Swannanoa, including Haw Creek and parts of Fairview. Preparations have been completed to begin sending water to the Fairview area and to the higher elevation areas of South Asheville that do not have water. Preparations are also in place to begin sending water to downtown and north Asheville.

It is extremely important to note: The water is NOT SAFE to drink straight out of the tap. If you get your water from Mills River, you are under a Boil Water Advisory. If you get your water from North Fork, you are under a Boil Water Notice. In each case, water intended for consumption (drinking, cooking and brushing teeth) should be boiled vigorously for at least one minute beforehand.

As water begins to return, Water Resources staff are turning on pump stations to begin to help move water into higher elevation areas. Service restoration will continue slowly and incrementally, moving in a generally westward direction.

As the system pressurizes, new water line breaks that were previously unknown will be found. Water Resources crews and our utility partners will be on standby to make these repairs as they are discovered. To report line breaks, call Water Resources Customer Service at 828-251-1122.

What to do before water service returns:

Flip off the breaker to your water heater.

Turn off water to your water heater.

Turn off hot water under your sinks.

Remove aerator (it typically unscrews) on faucets.

Turn off the ice maker.

Turn off water to your whole house filter, if you have one.

What to do when your water service returns:

Flush your home plumbing by running the bathtub’s cold water faucet.

Your water heater may be turned back on once your home’s plumbing has been flushed.

It’s safe to flush your toilet after completing steps 1 and 2.

Paws for blessings! New Bethlehem, Pennsylvania brought over 50,000 pounds of supplies to Mountain View Church of God for WNC flood victims. We were able to get many of the cleaning supplies to get started from the church. Thank you Mike and Nicki Hicks for your help! Yesterday Lynnetta Carbungco Davenport helped us get 113 2x4's and 15 sheets of plywood! That is enough 2x4's to do the entire shop! Thank you again to those who are volunteering and helping every day!

Thank you to our rescue workers!!

Firefighters get calls to help cats stuck in trees, but because of the catastrophic flooding from Helene, the fire crew in Kingsport, Tennessee, responded to a call this week to help get a dog who was stranded in a tree.

Paws … for blessings! Volunteering is contagious! Volunteers scrapped the floor, pulled nails, picked up supplies, and took several loads to the dump!
