🕯️ Candles, 🎈 Balloons & 🎀 Ribbons: Keep romantic candles, decorations, and strings away from curious paws and noses—they can cause burns or choking hazards.

🦷 Do you know what to expect during a veterinary dental cleaning? Keep reading to learn all about it!

During their regular exam, we always try to take a look at (and get a whiff!) of what is going on inside your pet's mouth. Based on age, breed, mouth odor, and what we observe, we may recommend a thorough oral exam and cleaning. Pre-anesthetic bloodwork might be suggested to ensure your pet is healthy for the procedure.

On the big day, we’ll begin with a quick exam before anesthesia. Once they’re under, we’ll take detailed dental x-rays to assess the gums and jaw structure. Next, we'll remove tartar and plaque, clean beneath the gums, and examine each tooth for signs of infection or disease. We’ll finish by scaling and polishing the teeth and may apply treatments or sealants as needed.

If extractions are necessary, we may prescribe antibiotics or pain medications for a smooth recovery. Afterward, it’s a great time to start brushing your pet’s teeth at home. We’re here to help with demonstrations, product recommendations, and aftercare advice!

✅ The best peanut butter for your dog is the kind with just peanuts—simple and healthy!

But remember, it should only be offered as a treat and not a regular part of their diet. Too much cheese can lead to digestive upset or weight gain, so always give it in moderation.

If you’re going to share some cheese with your pet, opt for varieties that are easier to digest, like cheddar, mozzarella, or cottage cheese. Soft cheeses like brie and those with added flavorings (like garlic or herbs) should be avoided, as they can upset your pet’s stomach or even be harmful.
