✨✨Exciting Update on Our New Clinic!✨✨

We’re thrilled to share that our new location is looking more and more like a clinic every day! The floors are done, and the fresh paint is giving the place a vibrant feel. Huge thanks to Chip and Rita, who have been amazing supervisors in getting our lab machines up and running 😂🐾

And a little fun fact: while Chip was hard at work, Rita found a creative use for some of the tools—who knew they could double as a bed? 😄😴

We appreciate everyone’s patience during this process. We’re getting closer to opening our doors, and we promise to make a big announcement soon. Stay tuned!

Within hours of the 9/11 attacks, thousands of rescue workers from across America deployed to Ground Zero to help. Joining the endeavor were an estimated 300 specially trained dogs with experience not only in search and rescue, but police work, therapy, and comfort provision.
Alongside their handlers, the four-legged heroes worked tirelessly climbing huge piles of debris while fires still smoldered. The search for signs of life or human remains was mentally and physically taxing on the dogs, who became discouraged and started losing their drive to continue. Recognizing the importance of motivation among the dogs, handlers would stage "mock finds" so the animals could feel successful.
The last living person rescued from Ground Zero was Genelle Guzman-McMillan who was pulled from rubble 27 hours after the collapse after being found by one of these search and rescue dogs.

Like other pets, mini-pigs should have a complete veterinary checkup after they are acquired and annually after that. Pigs can be challenging for a veterinarian to examine, as they are extremely strong, do not like to be restrained, and scream loudly when restraint is attempted. Ideally, your pig should be trained to walk on a leash/harness, so that he can walk into the animal hospital and onto a scale to be weighed. Smaller pigs may be trained to walk into a carrier for transport.
Vaccinations usually start at 8-12 weeks of age, boosters are given a month later and then annually (if necessary) Neutering is recommended at 8-12 weeks of age and spaying at 12-16 weeks. Hoof and tusk care is important as well. Some pigs may need hoof trimming every few months, depending on the type of surface they walk on every day. Trimming may be performed awake if the pig will lay on his/her back while its belly is scratched; if not, the pig may need to be sedated. Pet pigs also commonly carry mites on their skin that can cause sarcoptic mange, which is transmittable to people and other pets.
If you have a Pig and have any concerns, give us a call or email to get a wellness exam!

Our Story

What We’re All About…

Rose Veterinary Hospital offers a full range of veterinary services to care for your pet. We’ve listed some highlights of what we offer but if you don’t see what you’re looking for, please feel free to call and we’ll be glad to help you out. In addition to cats and dogs, we also see ferrets, rabbits, gerbils, hamsters and hedgehogs.

Since pets age about seven times faster than we do, it’s important to give them the best possible care they need at every life stage. We recommend annual wellness exams for pets of all ages as a preventative measure, with more frequent exams for senior pets. These exams can help detect serious conditions, allowing us to treat them in the early phases—before they become unmanageable.

By visiting us annually, you can discuss your pet’s future health outlook and ask questions about any existing conditions. Be sure to take note of any severe changes that have occurred with your pet, including vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, weight gain/loss, excessive thirst, or increased panting or aggression. If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms or has developed any abnormal behavior since their last wellness exam, please inform our veterinarians.
