Maggie has deep trauma around even the slightest sprinkle of rain. 🌧️
The moment water starts falling from the sky, her body shakes and fear takes over.

We don’t know her full story. 💔
What we do know is that before finding her forever home with us, she passed through four different foster homes after landing in an incredible horse rescue in South Georgia.

So yes - our comfort routine might look a little ridiculous to some. 😜
But when you’ve watched fear take over a gentle soul, making sure they feel safe becomes the only priority.

Over time, we’ve finally found the combination that helps Maggie breathe again.
Layer by layer.
Right beside her.
Every storm.

She doesn’t need to be “fixed.”
She just needs to feel safe. 💚

We’ve hit Wednesday already running with worry 💔

When our feed team arrived this morning, they found fresh blood trails leading to Jack Jack. Lou Lou was discovered hiding, clearly in pain and refusing food. We then noticed blood on Selah’s lady parts. And in the midst of an already overwhelming morning, Harley entered Hamilton’s igloo and terrorized him to the point that we’re deeply concerned an instigated fight with our sweet Hammy may have caused internal injuries we can’t see 🐷😞

Dr. Kelly has been incredible - on call with us all morning and heading our way after responding to two other farm emergencies 🩺🐾

In rescue, our hope is ALWAYS for days, weeks, and months without veterinary intervention. But the reality is that medical care is inevitable and often completely beyond our control.

Today is another powerful reminder of just how vital our Eternal Angels are to this sanctuary 🤍 If you feel called to join our monthly Angels by sponsoring one of our deserving residents, please know that your support truly makes moments like this survivable - for them and for us.

Meet Lisa, one of the quiet forces holding the heartbeat 💓 of HAAS together.

Lisa serves as a Morning Team Lead on Mondays and Fridays, a steady presence our residents and volunteers rely on. She is the heart behind our Super Hero Animal Therapy Program, welcoming differently abled stars from our community onto the farm to soulfully connect with our rescued residents. These moments calm nervous systems, open hearts, and create healing on both sides of the fence.

Behind the scenes, Lisa also maintains our ever changing and extremely detailed feed, care, and rehabilitation plans that guide daily routines for our residents. This work is constant, meticulous, overwhelming and absolutely essential.

Lisa found her hub of happiness when she joined the HAAS Farmily over four years ago. She is a devoted mom of four, a proud grandma, and the partner to her very own Super Hero, Justin, who jumps in whenever extra hands or heavy lifting are needed.

Lisa always shows up.
With intention.
With kindness.
With a smile.

She speaks to our residents as equals, because they are.

And then there is Charley 🤍
One of our sweet mini Jerusalem donkeys.🫏

Each morning, Lisa spends extra intentional time with Charley, giving him gentle flank massages and reminding him just how handsome and loved he truly is. These quiet moments are what sanctuary looks like. This is where trust grows. This is where love takes root.

Charley is still waiting for his Adoption Angel, someone to help support his care, safety, and forever peace. 🙏🏻

Lisa, you are woven into the soul of this place. HAAS is stronger because of you. And love continues to grow wildly because you chose to show up.

This is Pickles - one of our most spoiled, most peaceful pigs here at the Sanctuary. He’s safe, he’s loved, and he’s currently soaking up the sunshine waiting for his next belly rub (which he will remind you about).
